Dear all,
after having read a forum post by a German colleague (on a different platform) that the numbers are counted separately in the Across report and therefore invoicing based on the information contained in the "words" column can lead to faulty results, I had a closer look at the report generated by the software. I was thinking about charging based on standard lines or total number of characters in the future but found a strange thing:
My test document (*.doc) with Italian as source language contains two numbers (14 and 15), a date (format 01/12/11) and a name in abbreviated form (M. Rossi).
According to the Microsoft Word statistics the text contains a total of 120 characters including blanks (I counted them manually: 18 blanks are contained in the text).
According to the Across report the text contains only 119 characters, i.e. 86 letters, 10 numeric characters (5 numbers), 6 punctuation marks and 17 blanks.
I tried several things and discovered that the blank between "M." and "Rossi" is not counted by Across. I did another test with the quite common Italian abbreviation "ca." followed by "dieci minuti" and in this case, the blank is counted correctly. I therefore assume that the faulty report result might have something to do with unknown abbreviations but I found no setting in Across to this regard (and help is constantly crashing on me today...). Does anybody know where to find a setting changing/influencing this behaviour?
