This question is for Arabic speaking translators in the UK!

Could anybody please tell me if you know if there is any good short course in legal translation (English / Arabic) in London?

I've been looking on the internet and asking different institutions, but in vain.

Many thanks.

I'm not an Arabic-speaking translator, but I do know a bit about various courses that are offered in London.

London Metropolitan University has an MA in Applied Translation Studies, part of which deals with legal translation:
http://www.londonmet.ac.uk/pgprospectus/courses/applied-translation-studies.cfm
Arabic is one of the languages offered.
According to that page, it is possible to do individual course modules without registering for the full MA course.

City University offers a Postgraduate Certificate in Principles and Practice of Translation for various language combinations. Part of this course might cover translation of legal texts (I don't have first-hand knowledge of the syllabus):
http://www.city.ac.uk/study/courses/arts/principles-practice-translation.html

City University also offers an MA/Postgrad Diploma in Legal Translation, but Arabic is not one of the languages they offer on that course.

Not strictly translation-related, but perhaps useful nonetheless, are the short courses in law and legal studies offered by Birkbeck College, which is part of the University of London:
http://www.bbk.ac.uk/study/ce/lawandlegalstudies/courses/index.html
A couple of those modules (the ones marked "NNSE") are specifically aimed at people who are not native speakers of English.
Even though Birkbeck's courses are not courses in translation, they would at least give you a grounding in English legal concepts and terminology.

Otherwise it looks as though you'd have to head up to Salford or Edinburgh (Heriot-Watt) for an MA course in specialised Arabic-English translation.

Hope this gives you a bit of help.
