Dear colleagues and nevertheless friends,

On a daily basis, our little translation office receives roughly a dozen of fake CVs. I see that virtually no legitimate translator sends their CV by email anymore. It is all scammers! Here an example:

___Scammer

For those who did not have a clue that this is happening or who might have their CVs and names stolen by scammers, please pay a visit to http://www.translator-scammers.com!

For any CV you get, you can easily check whether an email address is fake here: http://www.translator-scammers.com/translator-scammers-emails.htm

Let's stop this!

CV not even needed Jul 30, 2023

This email is so ridiculous and badly written that it isn't even necessary to consider the presence of a CV. I don't think any agency worth its salt would be fooled by this dog's breakfast of an email. They'd quickly find out anyway.

CVs Jul 30, 2023

I have been receiving lots of CVs for some time (8 this morning), but I have no idea if they are fake or not, because they all go directly to the bin: my website and all the platforms and associations we belong to say clearly that we only translate from and into European Portuguese, nonetheless 99,9% of these “translators” don’t work in PT(pt)!

By the way, lately they have been trying a crafty con:

“I am very interested in the Freelance Translator position that you advertised.”

Needless to say that I haven’t advertised any position…

Only fake agencies Jul 30, 2023

And…only fake agencies request CVs. Or perhaps the agency is legitimate, but their project is fake, nonexistent and „potential“ (same as nonexistent).

Unfortunately (for the sender) the entire mail with all attachments goes straight to "File 13" from where it is being deleted as soon as I have a spare moment. And it bears no importance whether is is fake or real.
