Am currently proofreading a translation with Track Changes and large amounts of text that I haven't deleted are appearing in the balloons. This has happened before and I have no idea why or how to fix it. I don't think I'm doing anything different. Would welcome any suggestions.

For a start try switching the track changes view from balloons to in-line (or similar - I don't have the English version of Word on hand). If it's a long document, Word doesn't handle many things in balloons in the margins very well.

This has often happened to me when revieiwng a text where the previous editor has failed (or chosen not) to "accept the changes" they last made. It may be best to start your session by accepting all pre-existing changes, and then just use 'track changes' to highlight the new changes that you make.
