There was a KudoZ question in the Russian-English pair recently about an agronomist, which reminded me that in Soviet times, Moscow Radio used to broadcast a song called "Агротехник я" ("Agrotekhnik ya"), which translates as "I am an agricultural technician". It was quite a jolly little tune, but I thought that must surely be the worst song title ever.
Does anyone have any other contenders for this? | | |
"Teenage Enema Nurses in Bondage" by the group Killer Pussy was a hit sometime in the 80's. | | | Dejan Škrebić போஸ்னியா மற்றும் ஹெசகோவீனா Local time: 23:24 ஆங்கிலம் - செர்பியன் + ... SITE LOCALIZER
There's a lot of that, though. In the flood of various kinds of musicians and music genres one can always find much to "admire". There's a Serbian/Montenegrin musician (artistic name: Rambo Amadeus) who named a whole album "D*ck, C*nt, Sh*t, T*t", (with the actual letters in place of the asterisks) creating a chaos in local music industry: whether to name it as it is, or to abbreviate it as KPGS... The strange thing is that there are many who find both his music and lyrics quite enjoyable. | | | Jerzy Czopik ஜெர்மணி Local time: 23:24 உறுப்பினர் (2003) போலிஷ் - ஜெர்மன் + ... which I find a stupid title. I don't remember the band, but this doesn't matter.

Pink Floyd's "Several furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a Pict", "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" by the Beatles, John Otway's "Beware of the flowers cos i'm sure there gonna get you... YEAH!" "Stink foot" by Frank Zappa (in fact pretty much anything by Frank Zappa), Budgie's "Nude distintegrating parchutist woman" and "Hot as a Docker's armpit"... | | | lidius ஸ்பெயின் Local time: 23:24 ஜெர்மன் - ஸ்பேனிஷ் + ...

The band was Las Ketchup (three spanish girls) and «The ketchup song» is the title of the english version, «the song of Las Ketchup», perhaps.
The original title was «Aserejé», a nice invented word, which means nothing in Spanish: it's only a bad pronuntiation (intencionally) of some english words from another song.

My favorite bizarre song title is "I've Got Tears in my Ears (from Lyin' on my Back in my Bed while I Cry over You)."

It was called "The Ketchup Song" (at least in non-Spanish-speaking countries) because the singers were three sisters who performed under the name "Las Ketchup" ("The Ketchup Girls"). Their dad, a Flamenco guitarist, had been known as "El Tomate" ("The Tomato"), so a number of their songs and titles have tomato references. | | | Amy Duncan (X) பிரேசில் Local time: 18:24 போர்சுகீஸ் - ஆங்கிலம் + ... I know this is about the worst titles, but I just thought I'd throw this in:
"All the things you could be by now if Sigmund Freud's wife was your mother" by famous jazz bassist Charles Mingus.

Funny topic!
How about Brand X's classic album "Morrocan Roll", Tracks 2 and 3:
2. Why Should I Lend You Mine (When You've Broken Yours Off Already) ...
3. ... Maybe I'll Lend You Mine After All
Very good music, with Phil Collins on drums, before he wanted to earn big money ...
Edit: I've only now realized that Jack asked for the *worst* song titles, so my post might actually be off-topic here...
