Howdy folks!
I have a crazy request for you all. I am going to be attending Comic Con here in St. Louis and I thought that it would be a great opportunity to market my video game translation work. I'm trying to get some t-shirts made with different funny translation/video game references. For example, I have been toying with "T.A.G. Translations - Yeah, I hablo Español." Another one that I think would be neat is to have the word "Zombie" translated into a dozen or so different languages, but I wanted to ask all of you for your distinct translations as I only work in ESEN.
So here's the question, how do you say "zombie" in your working languages? And if you have any other ideas for t-shirts, let me know ^_^
Thanks! | | |
Spanish: "zombi" | Mar 8, 2013 |
"Zombi" without the letter e is how it is reflected in the Diccionario de la Real Academia Española, which is usually considered the standard in Spanish.

''zombie'' or ''morto-vivo''. I think ''zumbi'' is used in Brazilian Portuguese.
In Romanian it's ''zombi''.
In Serbian it's "zombi" in Latin script and "зомби", in Cyrillic.
Maybe you should try another word, because this would to be pretty much the same in most of the languages

زومبي
Pronounced pretty much the same as you do in English /zɒmbi/
FR: zombie or zombi | Mar 11, 2013 |
Both spelling exist in French. The one with a final "E" is, I would think, more common. And I can see why: /zombi/, phonetically, clearly is a borrowed word. It is therefore used as such.
