Hello,
I don't use CAT TOOLS very often, but I know that I'm going to need it very soon.

I don't use CAT TOOLS very often, but I know that I'm going to need it very soon.
My client ( who I have just joined the freelance database) usually provides several translation memories (.tmx) with the source file, including one memory corresponding to an automatic pre-translation (let's call it ATM).
It is recommended to :
- rank the translation memories in order of importance, giving ATM the lowest rank
- assign penalties to ATM to avoid 100% matching, which would bias the results.
I tried to practise on Cafetran with a basic text of a few segments and some tmx that chatgpt provided. But I can't manage to prioritise and penalise ATM.
Is this possible with the software?
Thanks in advance

Thank you very much CTT
First of all, I would like to know if I seized the right and pragmatic way of thinking :
- I do the settings
- Cafetran automatically shows (and fill) the 100% matching segments, except for those which have
been only founded by ATM (in that case, target segments under a certain % of matching, regarding
other TM's, remain blank)
- I review the segments automatically filled (100% or threshold decided by me)
- I fill m... See more Thank you very much CTT

- I fill manually the segments with less than the threshold (helped by the ATM tab if needed).
Are you okay with this?
Then, I would have questions about your process if you may :
1) I set up the same configuration as yours for my TM's (your pic 1, except for ATM where I chose keep out of assembling).
You said " When inserting all Exact Matches, CafeTran correctly prioritizes and inserts matches from the High priority TM (Prio1)"
On your pic 2, lines 2, 3 and 4 seem to have been filled automatically. Is that right?
In my case, the target segments still stay blank, even if some of my TMs (non-ATM) shows 100% matching. Is that normal?
2) Still about your Pic 2, it seems that it's the result of a translation based on your top priority memory. I don't speak dutch but "met prio 1" appearing in the results doesn't seem to have been translated from the english source : why does it appear in the body of the translation?
3) Your 3 last pics shows 3 possible ergonomic working views.
I tried many times, but I couldn't reproduce them. If it's not too much asking, could you show me the way of having them? At least the first view with 4 sets of 2 columns (pic 3) wich seem the most useful.
4) I don't understand your last picture. Since segments with XX seem to be related only to the ATM memory, what are these 4 columns and their purpose?
Thanks again for your patience

That's correct.
