Rates for jobs on Publisher

I have just started working on a document on Microsoft Publisher. The agency I am doing the job for usually pays me USD $ 0.10/ word for Word files or similar.

How much do you think I should charge them for this job on Publisher? It is FUN, but it certainly takes much longer.

Surprisingly enough, they usually send me the jobs and do not ask how much I will charge and I haven\'t told them yet.

See how much longer it takes you Feb 15, 2002

I haven\'t done a translation in Publisher, but you could translate a sample word count and then see how much longer it takes to translate it in Publisher compared to how long it takes you in Word for example (or some other program you are familiar with). Then just add that to your normal rate. I did that with a large file in Excel that was mostly terminology. I also have a couple of clients that no longer ask how much it is going to be; that is the advantage of building up trust with a compa... See more

I think as long as you don\'t take advantage of it, it is perfectly reasonable to charge more for programs that take longer.
