Hello everyone!
I am a Polish student of English Philology (University of Lodz) doing my M.A. dissertation on widely understood localization. I would like to ask you if anyone could provide me with some valuable resources- books or websites- which would focus on localization?
I would also like to ask someone involved in the process, particularly video game (software and instruction booklets) localisation, a few questions.

I have just found a paper which deals with a few aspects of game localisation:

I haven't actually read the entire paper yet, but to it seems to be a bit out of touch with the practical side of game translation. I am not saying that it is not a good paper, just that when you are actually working in this field, there is SO much more to it.
Feel free to ask any questions here and maybe you could try to change the topic name (should be possible) to "Resources on game localization" so you attract other specialists in this field.

The first place you can check is the IGDA (International Games Developers Association) site and specifically the localization SIG (Special Interest Group).
The IGDA Loc Sig has group on Linkedin, Facebook, etc...
For resources, examples, comments on Game Localization, you can also check groups on Linkedin like "Game Localization In".

Well, it's indeed really hard to find material on this topic. The problem is just a small group of scholars have written about it.
I don't have the links now, but I would recommend you to look for Miguel Bernal Merino, Carmen Mangiron and Minako O'Hogan, they are hardly the only ones I know that have written on localisatiopn from a linguistic point of view. If you want, send me a PM with your email address and I can send you some links.
BTW, I am also doing my thesis on localisation of video games.
