Hello,
I will be getting married at a Ukrainian church in Montreal next year and in order to get ready, I would need information about the traditions and ceremony. I found a few descriptions in English on the Internet.

Are there translators who could tell me, for example, what the traditional cloths (2) that I must find should look like?

Thank you,
Nina

There is a variety of such towels, depending on the region of Ukraine. Below are several examples just to give you an idea:

There are many other wonderful customs and traditions, but I cannot tell you for sure which ones will apply in the Ukrainian church in Montreal.

Best of luck, anyway!

More exactly, please Sep 23, 2004

Nina,

Every church has its own understanding of the wedding ceremony, so You need to consult them.
In fact, most of the traditional rites are to be performed at home (yours and your fiance). To get to further information, You must tell 1) what region of Ukraine You would represent, and 2) if You can read Ukrainian textes (I may recommend You some major books).

Good luck!

Thank you all Sep 23, 2004

Thank you all for the links and information!

Another question: Is it usually tradition for the bride and embroider to sew her own rushnyk, or can it be bought? (I'm not good at sewing, but I'm willing to learn!)

Nina
