Hi all, I'm a postgraduate computer science student, building a piece of software for linguists. The software is a concordance generator that will take as input user-selected text files and provide concordances of words. A concordance is an alphabetical list of the principal words used in a book or body of work, listing every instance of each word with its immediate context. See more Hi all, I'm a postgraduate computer science student, building a piece of software for linguists. A concordance is an alphabetical list of the principal words used in a book or body of work, listing every instance of each word with its immediate context. Concordance generators are used for text analysis by teachers of foreign languages, translators, lexicographers and linguists in general. I need to know if you have used such a tool before and if you would be interested in using it. I have posted a very brief, online survey (https://www.esurveycreator.com/s/a1929dc) and I would really appreciate it if you could take 1-2 minutes of your time to answer it. Many thanks, D. ▲ Collapse

Interesting, but something must be wrong with the link: it just opens https://www.esurveycreator.com/ homepage.
remove bracket | May 28, 2018 |
Hi dimitrispi, you may want to edit the link in your post: as Luca said, it does not work. It is sufficient to remove the bracket at the end, though https://www.esurveycreator.com/s/a1929dc

Hi Samuel, That's why I created this survey. There are quite a few free tools like this one out there. I'm trying to build an improved version and it would be good to know the features that a professional linguist would find useful or feels are missing from existing tools. @Anita: sort of. Here's an example from an existing tool: http://www.lexically.net/wordsmith/

Do you intend to create a monolingual (like Wordsmith tools) or bilingual concordancer? The latter is much more useful to us translators. Any new tool should have at least the features offered by this amazing (free) tool: http://farkastranslations.com/tmlookup.php Michael
