Translation theory – a mystery, a blessing, a curse?
What does it mean to practitioners?

Presenters:
Christian Schmidt and Marina Morgan

"Translation Theory? ... Spare us!" you may say.

The workshop aims to identify past translation theories and what some have termed a modern "revolution". It explores why this is of essential relevance to today's practitioners. We would like you to come away with a better and clearer understanding of the value offered by translation theories in making us more effective language professionals.

(Workshop format: Presentation by Christian and Marina, followed by group discussions of real-life case studies)

Cost: AUSIT/ASLIA members $30 - non-members $45 - students $20
