Even while in Japan, Hollande's mind is full of China and the Chinese, which is the reason behind the slip up.

This is important unsaid information that is diplomatically useful to both Japan as well as China. And the interpreter masked it.

1. You can't possibly know that. That's what we call "reading too much into it".
2. I disagree it is "important unsaid information, diplomatically useful".

Nor can the interpreter know what exactly is going in the speaker's mind. All that he has to work on, are the words he hears. Now if you colour what you hear with bits and pieces of judgement out your own sense of values, notions of correctness and wrongness, etc., what do you get? An original speech, not an interpretation of what the speaker said.

Which is why the ideal translation and an interpretation is one in which the translated/interpreted text/speech neither takes away anything that is there in the original, nor adds anything to it that is not there in the original.

I don't see why you should comment on what a good interpreter should be like. You are an interpreter, according to your profile, and that is huge difference.
