NRJ launches its own music platform dedicated to new talent.
Always at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies and keen to offer its listeners new music consumption scenarios, visitors to the NRJ website can now upload their own audio and video clips on www.nrjstudio.fr.
Site visitors and an internal artistic committee will vote for the best content. Winners will benefit from the different media in which multichannel group NRJ operates: their work could be promoted and broadcast on NRJ (radio), NRJ 12 (TV channel), NRJ Mobile, as well as the www.nrj.fr and www.nrjstudio.fr websites.
The best new talent could even be signed by the Group’s record label, NRJ Music.
NRJ 12 is launching weekly programme NRJ STUDIO to be broadcast Wednesdays at 2.25 p.m. The programme will feature Internet user-generated content and will include a Top 10 of the most popular videos, as well as the most bizarre, not forgetting the best of the worst.

French to English: Marius et Fanny (plot)
Source text - French ARGUMENT
L’action se déroule sur un quai du Vieux-Port, à Marseille, au début des années 1930.
ACTE I
Une foule bigarrée se presse sur le quai. Honorine salue M. Brun, vérificateur des douanes, qui ne tarde pas à rejoindre ses amis Panisse et Escartefigue qui jouent aux cartes au « bar de la Marine ». Après avoir appris son récent veuvage à M. Brun, Panisse lui déclare qu’il « préfère se remarier tout de suite », sans pour autant nommer sa prochaine épouse.
Fanny reproche à Marius de ne pas être venu au bal, la veille. Il essaie de se justifier en disant qu’il ne sait pas danser. Fanny lui donne aussitôt une leçon de danse, perturbée par la sirène d’un bateau, qui ramène soudain Marius à ses rêves d’évasion. Marius est rejoint par Piquoiseau qui l’informe qu’une place de matelot pourrait être vacante sur le trois-mâts « la Malaisie », qui va partir à minuit pour l’Océanie. Pour ramener son fils à la réalité, César lui reproche son manque d’intérêt pour le bar, et lui répète une fois de plus le dosage du picon-citron-curaçao lequel comprend, selon lui, un quatrième tiers d’eau, plus gros que les autres, dans un même verre ! Marius à beau rétorquer qu’un verre ne peut contenir que trois tiers, César n’en démord pas.
Panisse, confie à Honorine qu’il songe à épouser Fanny. D’abord horrifiée, elle se ravise en entendant le montant de la dot et de l’octroi d’une confortable pension pour elle. Peu de temps après, Fanny fait part de cette demande à Marius. Celui-ci ne veut pas avouer qu’il est jaloux, mais son dépit amoureux montre tout le contraire. Au cours d’un duo passionné, Marius révèle à Fanny qu’il ne peut pas l’épouser, sans lui donner plus de précisions. Lorsque Panisse revient, Marius s’en prend violemment à lui.
Seul avec son père, et devant son insistance, Marius lui apprend qu’il ne peut pas se marier avec Fanny à cause d’une femme, qu’il a aimée jadis. Piquoiseau prévient Marius de se tenir prêt à partir, dès qu’il viendra le chercher, si le matelot manquant n’est pas revenu avant minuit.
Translation - English PLOT
The drama unfolds at Marseilles’ Old Port in the early 1930s.
ACT I
A motley crew are jostling each other on the quay. Honorine greets M. Brun, a customs officer, who wastes no time in joining his friends Panisse and Escartefigue, who are playing cards in the Bar de la Marine. Having told M. Brun that he is recently widowed, Panisse goes on to say that he would “like to remarry as soon as possible”, without naming his next wife.
Fanny rebukes Marius for not having attended the ball the night before. He attempts to defend himself by saying that he can’t dance. Fanny then gives him a dance lesson, which is interrupted by a boat’s siren, which suddenly reminds Marius of his dreams of escape. Marius is joined by Piquoiseau, who informs him that there may be a vacancy for a sailor on the three-master the Malaisie, which will be leaving at midnight for the South Sea Islands. In an effort to bring his son back down to earth, César scolds him for his lack of interest in the bar, and repeats once again the recipe for Picon-Citron-Curaçao which, according to him, includes a fourth third of water, larger than the other thirds, in one glass! Marius replies that a glass can only contain three thirds but César is having none of it.
Panisse confides in Honorine that he longs to marry Fanny. At first horrified, she is ecstatic upon learning of the dowry and of the bestowing of comfortable lodgings for herself. Shortly afterwards Fanny tells Marius of this. He does not want to admit his jealousy but his vexed expression says it all. During a passionate duo Marius reveals to Fanny that he cannot marry her, without elaborating. When Panisse returns, Marius lays into him.
Alone with his father, and at his insistence, Marius tells him that he can’t marry Fanny because of another woman whom he loves. Piquoiseau warns Marius to be ready to leave, as soon as he comes for him, if the missing sailor should not have returned by midnight.

Source text - French Depuis plus d’un siècle, cette charmante guinguette à l’abri du mont Valérien réjouit tous les gourmets bien avisés de se rendre à Suresnes. Il y a quelques mois, le lapin a refait peau neuve, sous la houlette de Bernard Marcellin, ancien acteur et restaurateur de talent. Aujourd’hui dans la maison de « Panpan », on déguste une carte revisitée par le jeune chef Sébastien Dubrulle, qui, après avoir fait ses armes chez les frères Pourcel et chez Hélène Darroze, nous régale d’une cuisine sous influences méditerranéennes.
Translation - English For over a century, this charming open-air café nestling under Mont Valérien has been the delight of many a food-lover wise enough to visit Suresnes. A few months ago, the restaurant adopted a new image under the leadership of Bernard Marcellin, former actor and talented restaurateur. Today customers eating at the rabbit-crazy restaurant can choose from a menu that has been revamped by young chef Sébastien Dubrulle, who, having started out working under the Pourcel brothers and Hélène Darroze, now treats us to his delicious Mediterranean-influenced cooking.

I am a qualified full-time translator (French to English), copy editor and proofreader. I was awarded the Institute of Linguists’ professional Diploma in Translation (French–English) in 2003 and obtained a Distinction in the semi-specialised Technology paper, completed under exam conditions, which is available on request, should you require a sample of my work. I am currently an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIL).
I have been freelancing on a full-time basis since September 2006 and can offer a range of language services: translation, editing, revision and proofreading.
I regularly translate marketing & advertising material, magazines, catalogues, presentations, press conferences, press releases, financial statements, commercial correspondence, radio interviews, conference calls, event & conference information, promotional copy, web content, recipes, European Works Council transcripts, employment contracts and non-specialised text for a wide range of clients.
Over my 3 years as a full-time in-house Quality Assurance Executive for Wordbank, a leading UK localisation specialist, I worked on a broad range of key accounts, proofreading, editing and revising both English and foreign-language copy through recourse to client-approved glossaries, reference material and translation memories. I was promoted to Deputy Manager of the department early last year and in this role, while continuing to exercise my core quality assurance task, I supported the manager on a day-to-day basis and provided managerial cover in her absence, assigning work to the team and handling inter-departmental enquiries and requests.
In addition to my duties as Internal Reviser, I was also appointed Editor of Wordbank’s internal newsletter early last year, with sole responsibility for overseeing all production stages through to publication on the intranet and distribution company-wide.
I completed Maple Publishing’s Professional Proofreading & Editing Course in 2005 and achieved their Diploma in Proofreading and Editing Skills with Distinction in both parts. I am able to edit and proofread both English text and French–English translations (hard copy or online, using Word’s track changes tool). I am also able to offer a quality control service on texts in all other languages, focusing on the accurate capture of non-linguistic critical content such as proper names, figures, symbols, formatting, etc.
Due to the nature of the material that I generally translate, I do not use translation software.
