My area of interest and specialisation is medical translation, and specifically cardiology and patient information leaflets.
I have also developed an interest in video games and video game localisation.
I completed my B.A. in Translation Studies at Leipzig University.
This course covered the fundamentals of translation: theory, practical seminars (which focussed on linguistic sensitivity in German), translation technology (including CAT tools such as SDL Trados Studio 2011 and MultiTerm), and terminology theory and management.
I began studying the University College London M.Sc. Specialised Translation (Medical, Technical, Scientific) in 2015.
The course included thorough training in the CAT tools Wordfast Anywhere, SDL Trados Studio 2015, SDL MultiTerm 2015 Desktop, and memoQ.
Other modules included training in localisation, medical translation, technical translation, scientific translation, machine translation pre- and post-editing, proofreading and editing techniques.
I have completed the master now and am working as a freelance translator.
Besides freelance work I have done voluntary translation of information brochures via Trommons. |
