Bio
My name is Zhiyan Ma, and I've been a full-time freelance translator for more than 3 years.

During this 3 years, I've translated 8 books, including 2 detective novels—— Margaret Millar's Beast in View and Dashiell Hammett's The Continental Op, 5 children books——Mr Stink & The boy in the Dress by David Walliams, and Paddington Here and Now & Paddington Goes to Town by Michael Bond, etc. I also translated for the New York Times China before it was blocked by the Chinese government. International Institute fro Environment and Development, Greenpeace China, Save the Children China are some of my long time clients.

In addition, my previous jobs in China also involved large amounts of translation since 2005. For example, when I was a project manager of the School of Continuing Education, Tshinghua University, cooperated with IBM, we provided a training program for Schneider Electronic, every document was bilingual, and I did all the translation, including the complex legal documents. And I published bilingual newsletters four times a year while working for Chi Heng Foundation, a Hong Kong-based NGO as Communication Officer.

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh, having completed a MSc in Management of Training and Development last in 2009, and got my first master degree from Tshinghua University in International Relations in 2005.

Personally, I am extremely responsible, well organised and will perform any duties required on time.
