Der Name der Kollektion – Siena – stammt von der gleichnamigen Stadt in der Toskana, ca.50 km südlich von Florenz liegend.
Siena, von Olivenhainen und Weinbergen des Chiantigebietes umgeben, gilt als die
schönste Stadt der Toskana. Sie liegt auf einer Anhöhe mit einem malerischen Ausblick über die umliegende Region, die historische Altstadt ist seit 1995 UNESCO Weltkulturerbe.
Inspiration
Die Toskana war Inspirationsquelle für die gesamte Kollektion – von den Farben, Materialien bis zu den Strukturen der einzelnen Stücke.

Grün ist die Farbe der Olivenhaine und der Weinberge.
Der dunkle Rot-Ton ist inspiriert von den wilden Mohnblumen im Frühling, dem Chianti, der typische Wein aus der Region, und dem faszinierenden Licht der Sonnenuntergänge.

Materialen und Struktur:
Die Mauerwerke der Häuser, Brücken und Gassen haben die Designer der Siena-Kollektion
zu der Mosaikstruktur inspiriert. Das Überlagern von verschiedenen Materialien sieht man
auch sehr oft in der toskanischen Handwerkskunst. Fußböden und Wände der Häuser zieren
Fliesen im Mosaikdesign, Töpfe, Schalen, Teller werden in dem Stil gefertigt.
Was man aber vor allem für die von Hand hergestellten Unikate der Kollektion Siena braucht
ist Zeit, Geduld und Liebe zum Detail. All das beinhaltet Siena.
Qualität durch Handarbeit in der Herstellung
Die Qualität zeichnet sich vor allem durch die aufwendige Handarbeit der Kollektion aus. Die
Herstellung der Accessoires im Mosaikdesign erfolgt folgendermaßen: Das rohe Glas wird
zuerst in Handarbeit geblasen. Das heißt eine Maschine bläst jede Vase/Schale einzeln in
eine Form, noch glühend bearbeitet ein Glasspezialist das rohe Glas dann händisch weiter
und formet es fertig. Ist das Glas ausgeglüht, kann das Mosaik aufgetragen werden.
Dazu werden Glasblätter mit der jeweiligen Farbe per Hand bemalt und in den Brennofen
gegeben. Das fertig gebrannte Glas wird anschließend in viele kleine Mosaikteile gebrochen.
Jedes einzelne Glasteil wird auf die rohe Glasvase/schale geklebt, danach wird das fertige
Mosaik poliert und scharfe Kanten entfernt. Durch eine Fugenmischung werden nun die
Ritzen zwischen den Glasteilen versiegelt und das Mosaik nochmals gereinigt. Danach muss
das Glas für 48 Stunden bei richtiger Temperatur und Feuchtigkeit gelagert werden, um die
Fugendichtung zu fixieren. Zuletzt werden die Maße der Vase/Schale kontrolliert um sie
dann zu verpacken.

The deep red tone is inspired by the wild poppies in spring, by the Chianti, the typical wine of this region, and by the fascinating light of its sunsets.
The coppery yellow recalls the colour of the ancient houses, bridges and walls – and the shades of sunlight during the day.
Materials and Structure:
The masonry and brickwork of the houses, bridges and streets have inspired the designers of the Siena Lights TM Collection in creating its mosaic texture. The layering of diverse materials is also an oft-seen aspect of Tuscan craftsmanship. Floors and walls of the houses are decorated by mosaic-like tiles, while clay pots, bowls and plates are crafted in this style. The most important requirements for the unique, hand crafted items in the Siena Lights TM Signature Collection are time, patience and loving attention to detail. All this is inherent in Siena.
Quality through handcrafted production.
The quality of the collection is characterized most notably by its elaborate handcrafting. The production of the mosaic style accessories is as follows: First, the raw glass is hand blown. This means that a machine blows each vase/bowl individually into a basic shape that while still red hot is hand formed by a glass artisan who gives the piece its final shape. Once the glass has been tempered, it is ready to have the mosaics applied. To create this, glass sheets in the individual colors are hand painted and fired in a kiln. The fired glass is then broken into myriad small mosaic ‘stones’. Each individual glass element is then glued to the glass vase/bowl and the completed mosaic polished and sharp edges removed. The grooves between the glass elements are sealed with grout and the mosaic is cleaned again. Subsequently, the glass must be stored at the proper temperature and moisture conditions to set the sealant. Finally, the dimensions of the vase or bowl are checked and then carefully packed.

Outlook
In den vorangegangenen Kapiteln wurde der aktuelle Stand des Sportmarketing in unterschiedlichen Ländern und Kontinenten wiedergegeben. In diesem Abschnitt soll ein Blick in die Zukunft gewagt werden. Da auch Wissenschaftler keine Glas-kugel besitzen, die ihnen zukünftige Entwicklungen aufzeigt, handelt es sich bei den folgenden Ausführungen teilweise um fundierte Einschätzungen (basierend auf Fakten und Erfahrungen), teilweise um Plausibilitätsüberlegungen, z.T. jedoch auch um reine Gedankenspiele. Das Bild, das im Folgenden von der Zukunft des Sportbusiness im Allgemeinen und des Sportmanagement bzw. Sportmarketing im Besonderen gemalt wird, könnte die zukünftige, internationale Realität abbilden – muss es deshalb aber selbstverständlich nicht zwangsläufig.

Das Sportbusiness hat eine rasante Entwicklung hinter sich. Während sich früher ehrenamtlich geführte Sportvereine über Zuschauereinnahmen finanziert und vereinzelt mit Spielerberatern verhandelt haben, setzen sich heutzutage die meist professionell geführten Wirtschaftsunternehmen im Sport mit einer Vielzahl unter-schiedlicher Interessensgruppen auseinander und finanzieren sich durch zahlreiche verschiedene Einkommensquellen (Bühler/Nufer, 2013; Bühler/Nufer, 2012).
Das professionelle Sportbusiness der heutigen Zeit ist v.a. ein mil-liardenschweres Geschäft, das durch gegenseitige Abhängigkeiten gekennzeichnet ist. Als Beispiel sei hier die Beziehung zwischen Sport und Medien genannt: Der Sport braucht die Medien, um sich medial vermarkten zu können. Nur wer in den Medien vertreten ist, kann eine große Anzahl Fans und damit potentielle Kunden erreichen. Dadurch wird nicht nur die eigene Markenbekanntheit gesteigert, son-dern auch die Attraktivität für Sponsoren. Sportclubs und -verbände, die mit ihren Spielen bzw. Wettbewerben regelmäßig ein großes Publikum ansprechen, sind für Sponsoren wiederum interessanter als diejenigen, die ständig vor einer kleinen Ku-lisse agieren und medial nicht oder nur geringfügig stattfinden. Präsenz in den Me-dien bedeutet für Sportorganisationen daher wichtige Einnahmen, ohne die sie nicht oder nur sehr schwer überleben können. Auf der anderen Seite brauchen die Me-dien den Sport, um eine möglichst hohe Zahl von Rezipienten anzusprechen. Der Sport liefert tagtäglich interessante Geschichten, die sich sehr gut verkaufen lassen. Sport als Content wird ebenfalls immer wichtiger. Ein TV-Sender kann es sich heutzutage kaum mehr leisten, keine Sportübertragungen im Programm zu haben. Sport ködert die Rezipienten und eine große Anzahl von Rezipienten ködert die werbetreibende Industrie. Der Verkauf von Werberechten an Unternehmen bzw. der Verkauf von Abos an Fans bedeutet für die Medien essentielle Einnahmen. Vor diesem Hintergrund würde es nicht überraschen, wenn diese gegenseitigen Ab-hängigkeiten in Zukunft sogar noch verstärken werden.
Im Wirtschaftsmarkt Sport tummeln sich nicht nur Sportanbieter und Medien, sondern eine Vielzahl weiterer Interessensgruppen, wie zum Beispiel Sponsoren, Rechte- und Vermarktungsagenturen, Investoren und die Politik. Und jeder möchte von dem zu verteilenden Kuchen ein Stückchen abhaben. Dies führt heute schon zu Verteilungskämpfen und Interessenskonflikten, die in Zukunft noch zunehmen werden. Das Sportbusiness wird in verstärktem Maße Gewinner und Verlierer pro-duzieren. Als Sieger werden auf der einen Seite die ganz großen, globalen Player hervorgehen, weil sie über die nötigen Ressourcen (finanzieller und personeller Art) verfügen, um die kleineren Konkurrenten vom Markt zu drängen. Auf der an-deren Seite haben aber auch die vermeintlich kleinen Player eine Chance im Sport-business, erfolgreich zu sein, wenn sie die Marktnischen besetzen, die von den Großen vernachlässigt werden. Der Verlierer des zunehmenden Wettbewerbs wird die Mitte, d.h. die mittleren Player, sein, die weder die nötigen Ressourcen der Großen noch die notwendige Flexibilität der Kleinen haben. Das Sportbusiness könnte daher in Zukunft eine Übernahmewelle erfahren, die die Großen noch größer und die Kleinen noch flexibler macht.
In Zukunft werden sich auch die Machtverhältnisse zwischen den einzelnen Sportbusinessmärkten verändern. Immer wieder drängen neue Sportarten auf den Wirtschaftsmarkt Sport (wie zum Beispiel BMX-Rennen als neue olympische Disziplin) und versuchen, die etablierten Sportarten anzugreifen und deren Einfluss im Sportbusinessmarkt zu verringern. Die neuen Medien spielen dabei den kleineren Sportarten in die Karten. Internet und mobile Endgeräte bieten den Randsportarten die Möglichkeit, medial präsent zu sein – und das weltweit. Dadurch ergeben sich erhebliche Vermarktungsmöglichkeiten und Einnahmezu-wächse. Neben neuen Sportarten werden auch immer mehr geografische Sport-märkte auf der Weltkarte des Sportbusiness zu finden sein. Experten gehen beispielsweise davon aus, dass China in zehn bis fünfzehn Jahren der Sportbusi-nessmarkt Nummer eins sein wird und bis dahin mit zweistelligen Wachstumsraten aufwartet (Weilguny/Rehm, 2008). Die Olympischen Sommerspiele in Peking im Jahr 2008 waren – abgesehen von der Menschenrechtsproblematik – ein beein-druckendes Beispiel dafür, zu was das Land der aufgehenden Sonne alles fähig ist. Darüber hinaus wird Afrika nicht nur weltpolitisch, sondern auch im Wirtschaftsmarkt Sport zukünftig eine wichtigere Rolle spielen. Die Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft 2010 in Südafrika war dafür ein erstes Beispiel.
The future of sports management
Ein professionelles und effektives Sportmanagement ist bereits heutzutage ein wichtiger Erfolgsfaktor für Sportbetriebe, wird mit der zunehmenden Kommerzial-isierung des Sports aber zu jenem entscheidenden Kriterium, von dem das Wohl und Wehe einer Sportorganisation abhängt (Nufer/Bühler, 2012; Nufer/Bühler, 2013).
Das moderne Sportmanagement muss strategisch ausgerichtet sein, Nachhaltig-keit sicherstellen und flexibel operieren können. Entscheidend für ein modernes und professionelles Sportmanagement ist dabei v.a. die Personalpolitik der jeweiligen Sportorganisation. Heutzutage werden immer noch zu viele Sportman-ager nach der Anzahl ihrer absolvierten Länderspiele oder errungenen Medaillen ausgewählt und weniger nach ihrem Können bzw. der Qualität ihrer Ausbildung. Um aber erfolgreich im Sportmanagement arbeiten zu können, braucht man neben dem Einblick in die Besonderheiten des Sports auch qualitativ hochwertige betrieb-swirtschaftliche Kenntnisse. Ein großer Name öffnet zwar die ein oder andere Tür, kann sie aber auch schnell wieder schließen, wenn Management-Fehler offen-sichtlich werden. So haben beispielsweise Sponsoren, die Millionenbeträge in Sportorganisationen investieren, ein Recht auf eine professionelle Zusammenarbeit. Um eine stetige Professionalisierung zu gewährleisten, müssen nicht nur Sportor-ganisationen ihre Personalpolitik optimieren, sondern auch der Bildungsmarkt hierzu seinen Beitrag leisten. Wenn man Sportorganisationen auffordert, hervor-ragend ausgebildete Sportmanager einzustellen, dann müssen diese auch in entsprechender Qualität und Quantität vorhanden sein. Bisweilen ist es häufig noch so, dass es zwar genügend Absolventen diverser Sportmanagement-Kurse gibt, die aber leider nicht immer den Anforderungen der Sportbusinessbranche gerecht wer-den können. Bildungseinrichtungen, die eine auf die Bedürfnisse des Marktes aus-gerichtete Sportmanagement-Ausbildung anbieten, werden in Zukunft einen Wettbewerbsvorteil gegenüber denjenigen Anbietern haben, die am Markt vorbei produzieren.
Die Einstellung von professionellen Sportmanagement-Experten führt wied-erum zu professionellen und seriösen Strukturen. Seriosität und Professionalität werden in Zukunft (neben dem sportlichen Erfolg) ein elementarer Faktor für den wirtschaftlichen Erfolg einer Sportorganisation sein. Die klassische Betrieb-swirtschaftslehre bietet schon heute die dafür notwendigen Instrumente an. So wird die Balanced Scorecard als wichtiges Planungs-, Steuerungs- und Informationsin-strument gegenwärtig in immer mehr Sportorganisationen integriert. Dieses Beispiel zeigt eindrucksvoll, wie aus einem betriebswirtschaftlichen Instrument für die Industrie auch ein Instrument für das Sportmanagement werden kann. Akademiker und Praktiker haben sich der Balanced Scorecard angenommen und sie soweit modifiziert und maßgeschneidert, dass auch Sportorganisationen sie nutzen können. In Zukunft werden weitere betriebswirtschaftliche Instrumente für den Wirtschaftsmarkt Sport adaptiert und somit nutzbar gemacht werden.
Darüber hinaus ist festzustellen, dass der Erfolg einer Sportorganisation im-mer stärker von den Fähigkeiten und Kenntnissen des Managements abhängt. Allerdings ist modernes Sportmanagement nur ein Erfolgsfaktor. Der andere entscheidende Faktor, der über Gedeih und Verderb von Sportbetrieben entscheidet, ist der sportliche Erfolg. Beides – betriebswirtschaftlicher Erfolg und sportlicher Erfolg – bedingen und unterstützen sich gegenseitig. Die Auf-gabe des modernen Sportmanagements ist daher nicht nur die Erfüllung der be-triebswirtschaftlichen Aufgaben, sondern auch die Weichenstellung für den bestmöglichen sportlichen Erfolg.

Betrachtet man die Entwicklung des Sportmarketing zu einer eigenständigen Marketingdisziplin mit vielen verschiedenen Facetten, so kann man feststellen, dass immer mehr Marketinginstrumente und -techniken im Sport adaptiert wer-den, die schon Jahrzehnte zuvor in anderen Branchen erfolgreich angewandt wurden. Marken im Sport gab es schon immer, nur heutzutage werden Club-marken zunehmend strategisch ausgerichtet und dementsprechend gepflegt (Bühler, 2006; Nufer, 2010).
Im Zuge der Kommerzialisierung wird das Sportmarketing sowohl auf Spor-tanbieterseite als auch auf Seiten der Sponsoren und Investoren immer profes-sioneller. Beide Seiten befruchten sich dabei gegenseitig: Sportorganisationen erfahren, wie Marketing funktioniert und die werbetreibenden Unternehmen lernen, wie das Geschäft mit dem Sport zum Erfolg führt. Daraus entstehen echte Partnerschaften, die für alle Beteiligten gewinnbringend sind. Die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Sportorganisationen und deren Sponsoren wird in Zukunft noch enger als bisher werden. Strategische Allianzen und Joint Ven-tures, wie sie in anderen Wirtschaftsmärkten längst üblich sind, werden auch im Sportsponsoring verstärkt zu finden sein (Bühler/Nufer, 2010).
Da es im modernen Sportmarketing hauptsächlich um spezifische Vermark-tungs- und Werberechte geht, wird außerdem die korrekte Handhabung dieser Rechte immer wichtiger werden. Von besonderer Bedeutung ist hierbei der Schutz von Rechten. Ein Unternehmen, das Millionenbeträge für die Ver-wendung exklusiver Werberechte eines Sportclubs bezahlt, muss vor Trittbrettfahrern geschützt werden. In der Tat ist es heute schon so, dass Ver-stöße gegen das Markenrecht teilweise empfindlich bestraft werden. Diese Entwicklung wird sich in Zukunft noch verstärken, so dass zumindest „plumpes“ Ambush Marketing als Marketinginstrument im Rahmen von Sport-veranstaltungen an Effektivität verlieren wird (Nufer, 2013).
Mit dem Rechte-Schutz allein ist es allerdings nicht getan, wenn es darum geht, ein Sponsorship erfolgreich zu gestalten. Diesbezüglich ist eine stärkere Proaktivität und Kreativität seitens der Sportanbieter wünschenswert. Zu häufig ist der Sponsor heutzutage alleine dafür verantwortlich, das Sponsorship mit Leben zu erfüllen und entsprechende unterstützende Maßnahmen auf den Weg zu bringen. In Zukunft werden diejenigen Sportclubs und -verbände einen Wettbewerbsvorteil im Kampf um Sponsorengelder haben, die neben den ei-gentlichen Werberechten auch gleichzeitig Umsetzungskonzepte mitliefern (Bühler, 2006). Dazu sind Kreativität und konzeptionelles Denken notwendig, also Fähigkeiten, die man in vielen deutschen Sportorganisationen häufig noch zu selten antrifft. Diese Fähigkeiten müssen in Zukunft eingekauft werden, entweder durch die Einstellung von Marketingfachleuten oder durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Werbe- und Sponsoringagenturen. Auch hier sind strate-gische Kooperationen hilfreich.
Die in Band 2 dieser Buchreihe vorgestellten Sportmarketing-Trends wer-den in Zukunft noch bedeutender werden. Sportorganisationen, die markt- und kundenorientiert arbeiten (entweder weil sie sich dazu entschieden haben oder weil sie es aufgrund des zunehmenden Wettbewerbsdrucks müssen), brauchen ein effektives Kommunikationsmanagement, um mit den Kunden in Kontakt zu treten. Die Implementierung eines Customer Relationship Marketing Pro-grammes ist wichtig, um eine Beziehung mit dem Kunden aufzubauen und diese zu pflegen. Gleichermaßen wichtig sind innovative und auf Kundenbedürfnisse abgestimmte Hospitality-Angebote, die das Sportevent zu einem exklusiven Er-eignis machen. Auch im Bereich Event-Marketing ist noch Potential, um alle Möglichkeiten, die Sport-Events bieten, zum Wohle des Kunden auszuschöpfen. Dem Aufbau der Marke und der konsequenten Markenpflege kommt eine be-sondere Bedeutung zu. In Zukunft werden v.a. diejenigen Sportclubs und -verbände Erfolg im Markt haben, die sich als echte Marke positionieren.
Ein weiterer wichtiger Aspekt, der in Zukunft eine immense Rolle spielen wird, ist die im vorliegenden Band ausführlich diskutierte Internationalisierung des Sportmarketing. Diesbezüglich sind unterschiedliche Entwicklungsstufen des Sportmarketing in den verschiedenen Regionen dieser Welt festzustellen. Am weitesten entwickelt ist das Sportbusiness und somit auch das Sportmarketing in Westeuropa und Nordamerika. Dies ist vielen verschiedenen Faktoren geschuldet. Zum einen wurde in den westeuropäischen und nordamerikanischen Ländern früh-zeitig erkannt, welches ökonomische Potential der professionelle Spitzensport be-inhaltet. Zum anderen wurden Modelle und Ansätze entwickelt, um dieses Potential in monetäre Größen zu überführen. Interessanterweise basiert der Erfolg des Sportmarketing in Westeuropa und Nordamerika auf zwei gegensätzlichen Sport-systemen. Während in Nordamerika ein geschlossenes – auf Umsätze, Renditen und Unterhaltung basierendes – System praktiziert wird, dominiert in Westeuropa das offene System, das durch die Auf- und Abstiegsregelung den sportlichen Erfolg in den Vordergrund stellt. Das jeweils praktizierte System offenbart sich auch in den wissenschaftlichen Sportmarketing-Ansätzen, die aus diesen Regionen kom-men. Während sich die nordamerikanischen Sportmarketing-Publikationen eher auf die Frage konzentrieren, wie man Sportveranstaltungen noch unterhaltsamer und rentabler machen kann, versuchen westeuropäische Sportorganisationen eher den Spagat zwischen wirtschaftlichem und sportlichem Erfolg zu thematisieren, sowie die Besonderheiten des Sports in den Vordergrund zu rücken. In anderen Regionen der Welt ist das Sportmarketing unterschiedlich weit entwickelt (Li/MacIntosh/Bravo, 2012). Australien ist auf einem guten Weg, die westeu-ropäische und nordamerikanische Dominanz aufzubrechen, vor allem im wissen-schaftlichen Bereich haben sich zahlreiche australische Sportmarketing-Akademiker in den letzten Jahren international einen guten Namen gemacht. In Osteuropa, Asien und Afrika wird es allerdings vermutlich eher noch eine Weile dauern, bis das Sportmarketing den Status erreicht, den es in Westeuropa, Nor-damerika und Australien bereits besitzt. Mit sportlichen Großveranstaltungen wie den Olympischen Sommerspielen 2008 in Peking, der Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft 2010 in Südafrika und der Fußball-Europameisterschaft 2012 in Polen und der Ukraine, konnten die asiatischen, afrikanischen und osteuropäischen Länder nicht nur auf sich aufmerksam machen, sondern zudem die Infrastruktur für ein profes-sionelleres Sportbusiness schaffen.

The previous chapters portrayed the current state of sports marketing in various countries on different continents. In this section we want to venture a glance into the future. Since even scientists don’t possess a crystal ball that could reveal future developments, the following remarks consist in part of solidly founded assessments (based on facts and experience), partially of plausibility considerations, but are to a certain extent also a matter of pure thought experiments and musings. The image painted below of the future of the sports business in general and sports management and/or sports marketing in particular could conceivably be a depiction of the international reality of the future – but naturally, it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way.
The sports business has been developing at a breathtaking pace. While in earlier years, sports clubs managed on a pro bono basis were financed with revenues derived from spectators and occasionally negotiated with player consultants (or agents), today the mostly professionally managed commercial enterprises in sports deal with a myriad of diverse interest groups and are financed by a great many different sources of income (Bühler/Nufer, 2013; Bühler/Nufer, 2012).
In the world of today, the professional sports business is first and foremost a business worth billions, characterized by interdependent relationships. Here we would mention the example of the relationship between sports and the media: Sports need the media to capitalize on the media for marketing. Only those with a media presence can reach a large number of fans and thus potential customers. This not only enhances the various organizations’ brand awareness, but also the appeal for sponsors. Sports clubs and associations who regularly reach a large audience with their games and/or competitions are also far more interesting to sponsors than those who consistently perform against a small-scale backdrop and don’t make it into the media, or only to a limited extent. Therefore, a media presence represents substantial income for sports organizations, without which their survival would not be possible, or only with great difficulty. On the other hand, the media needs sports so as to be able to address the greatest possible number of consumers. Sports provide a daily feed of interesting stories that sell very well. Moreover, sports are becoming increasingly important as content. Today TV stations can no longer afford not to have sportscasts as part of their programming. Sports lure consumers and a large number of consumers is lured by the advertising industry. The sale of advertising rights to companies and/or the sale of subscriptions to fans represent essential revenue for the media. Given this background, it would not come as a surprise if these mutual dependencies were to increase in intensity in the future.
The sports providers and media are not the only ones actively engaged in the economic sports marketplace, which includes a multitude of additional interest groups, such as sponsors, rights and marketing agencies, investors and the political scene. And everyone wants a piece of the available pie. Today this is already producing distribution battles and conflicts of interest that are sure to grow in the future. The sports business will increasingly produce winners and losers. The winners to emerge on one side will be the major global players, because they have the necessary resources (financial and in terms of personnel) to crowd their smaller competitors out of the market. On the other side, the supposedly little players have an opportunity to enjoy success in the sports business if they occupy market niches that are neglected by the big guns. The losers in the increasing competition will be those in the middle, i.e. intermediate players, who neither possess the required resources that the big guys have, nor the equally required flexibility of the small ones. Thus, in the future, the sports business could experience a wave of takeovers that will make the big players even bigger and the small ones even more flexible.
The future will also see a shift in the balance of power among the individual sports business markets. Time and again new sports forms are can be seen surging into the economic sports market (for example, BMX races as a new Olympic discipline), and attempt to “attack” the established forms of sport by diminishing their influence in the sports business market. The new media play right into the game of the smaller sports. The Internet and mobile devices offer the fringe sports the opportunity of a media presence – and that on a worldwide scale. This produces considerable marketing opportunities and increases in revenue. In addition to new sports, more and more geographic sports markets will be appearing on the world map of the sports business. For example, experts assume that in the next ten to fifteen years China will be number one on the sports business market and up to that time will be showing double-digit growth rates (Weilguny/Rehm, 2008). Apart from the problems associated with human rights issues, the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing were an impressive example of all that the Land of the Rising Sun is capable of. Moreover, in the future Africa will assume a more important role geopolitically as well as in the world economic market of sports. The 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa was just a first example of this.
The future of sports management
Today, effective professional sports management is already an essential aspect of the success of sports operations, but with the increasing commercialization of sports, this will become the decisive factor upon which the prosperity and adversity of a sports organization will depend (Nufer/Bühler, 2012; Nufer/Bühler, 2013).
Modern sports management must be strategic in its orientation, ensure sustainability and be capable of flexible operation. Above all, the decisive aspect of modern sports management is the human resources policy of the individual sports organization. These days, far too many sports managers are selected for the number of international games they may have completed or medals they have won, rather than based on their skills (competence) and/or the quality of their training. However, in addition to insights into the peculiarities of a sport, the ability to work successfully in sports management also requires solid high-quality business administration knowhow. A big name does open an occasional door, but can also close it just as quickly when management errors become apparent. Thus, for example, sponsors who invest millions in sports organizations have a right to professional collaboration. To guarantee ongoing professionalization, it is not only the responsibility of sports organizations to optimize their personnel policies, but the education and training market must make the appropriate contribution to this end. If sports organizations are asked to hire superbly trained sports managers, the latter must also be available in the appropriate quantity and quality. Until now it is frequently so that although a sufficient number of graduates of various sports management courses exist, but unfortunately they are not always capable of meeting the demands of the sports business industry. Those educational institutions that provide a sports management education geared to the demands and trends of the market will have a competitive advantage over those providers who don’t produce what the market wants.
In turn, hiring professional sports management experts results in professional and respectable structures. In the future, integrity and professionalism will (in addition to the sporting success) be a fundamental factor in the economic success of a sports organization. Today, classical fundamentals of business administration provide the necessary tools. Thus, the Balanced Scorecard is currently being integrated as an important planning, control and information tool in an increasing number of sports organizations. This is an impressive example of how a business management tool can also turn into a sports management tool for the industry. Scholars and users in practice have addressed the Balanced Scorecard and have modified and customized it to the extent that sports organizations can also utilize it. In the coming years additional business administration tools will be adapted for the purposes of the business market of sports and thus become applicable.
Moreover, it has become evident that the success of a sports organization is increasingly dependent on the skills and knowhow of its management. That being said, modern sports management is only one success factor. The other decisive factor that is decisive in determining whether an organization flourishes or perishes is its actual athletic success. Both - commercial success and athletic achievement in sports – are contingent upon each other and mutually dependent. Thus, the task of modern day sports management is not merely to fulfill business functions, but also to set the direction for the optimum in sports success.
The future of sports marketing
In contemplating the development of sports marketing into an independent marketing discipline, it becomes apparent that an ever-increasing number of marketing tools and technologies that for decades have been successfully applied in other fields are now being adapted for sports. Brands have always existed in sports, only today club brands are increasingly strategic in their orientation and are cultivated accordingly (Bühler, 2006; Nufer, 2010).
As part of its commercialization, sports marketing is implemented in an increasingly professional manner by the sports providers as well as sponsors and investors. There is cross-fertilization in both directions: Sports organizations learn how marketing functions and advertisers learn how the business of sports gets them success. In the future, sports organizations and sponsors will cooperate even more closely than they do today. Strategic alliances and joint ventures, long common practice other business markets, will also become prevalent in the area of sports sponsorship (Bühler/Nufer, 2010).
Since modern-day sports marketing revolves primarily around specific marketing and advertising rights, the proper handling of these rights will also take on increasing importance. In this regard, the protection of rights is of particular significance. A company that pays millions for the use of exclusive advertising rights must protect itself from freeloaders. Actually, it is already a fact that to some extent, violations of trademark law are severely penalized. This tendency will continue to intensify in the future, so that at least “crude” Ambush Marketing in the context of sports events will lose some of its effectiveness. (Nufer, 2013).
However, protection of rights is only part of the story, when it comes to designing successful sponsorships. Preferably, the sports provider should take a more intensely proactive and creative approach. Far too often now, the sponsor alone is responsible for imbuing the sponsorship with life and getting the appropriate supporting activities off the ground. In the future, those sports clubs and associations that do more than grant actual advertising rights by providing implementation concepts will have a competitive advantage in the contest for sponsorship funding (Bühler, 2006). This requires creativity and conceptual thinking, skills that are often rather hard to find in many German sports organizations, even now. In the future, these capabilities will have to be acquired, by either hiring marketing professionals or working closely with advertising and sponsorship agencies. Here too, strategic cooperation relationships are helpful.
The sports marketing trends presented in volume 2 of this book series will take on more significance going forward. Sports organizations that utilize a market and customer-oriented approach (either due to a conscious choice or because the increasing competitive pressure forces them to do so), require effective communications management in order to get in touch with customers. The implementation of a Customer Relationship Marketing (CRM) program is essential for building and cultivating a relationship with the customer. Innovative, customized hospitality that cater to customer needs and transform a sports event into an exclusive experience are equally important. Event marketing also holds the potential for taking advantage of all the opportunities to benefit customers that sports events offer. Particular significance may be attributed to the development of the brand and consistent brand management. In the future, primarily those sports clubs and associations that position themselves as authentic brands will enjoy market success.
An additional important aspect, extensively discussed in this volume, the internationalization of sports marketing is certain to play a huge role in the future. In this respect, various levels of sophistication of sports marketing may be observed in various regions around the world. The sports business and thus sports marketing in Western Europe and North America are the most advanced. This may be attributed to many different factors. On one hand, Western European and North American countries recognized early on the economic potential inherent in professional high-performance sports. On the other hand, models and approaches were developed to translate this potential into monetary terms. Interestingly enough, the success of sports marketing in Western Europe and North America is based on two contrasting sports systems. Whereas in North America a closed system – based on revenues, return on investment and entertainment – is in practice, Western Europe is dominated by an open system whose promotion and demotion provisions enable a primary focus on athletic/sporting achievement. The respectively practiced systems are also manifested in the scientific sports marketing approaches that emanate from these regions. While the North American sports marketing publications concentrate on the question of how sports events could be made even more entertaining and profitable, Western European sports organizations attempt to address the issue of the balancing act between business and sporting success, and to focus on the special features of the sport. Other regions of the world are characterized by various levels of sports marketing development (Li/MacIntosh/Bravo, 2012).
Australia is well on its way to breaking up Western European and American dominance. This is especially the case in the scientific area, where numerous Australian sports marketing scholars have earned excellent international reputations in recent years. However, in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa it will probably take a while for sports marketing to attain the status that is already has in Western Europe, North American and Australia. Mega sports events such as the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa and the 2012 Football European Championships in Poland and the Ukraine could not only help attract attention to the Asian, African and Eastern European countries, but also create the infrastructure for a professional-level sports business.

Es entstehen Dualismen durch die das eigene Selbst („Wir Europäer“) vom fremden Anderen („Die Afrikaner, die Muslime, die Fundamentalisten“) getrennt wird, das dadurch in der Konstruktion eines europäischen Raumes ausgegrenzt wird. Solche Zuschreibungen legen fest, wer sich innerhalb und wer sich außerhalb des Raumes Europa befindet und wer von denen, die sich in Europa befinden, dazu gehört und wer nicht. In unserem Projekt beschäftigt uns die Frage, welche Identitäten und Bedeutungen anhand der Bilder von verschleierten Frauen in den österreichischen Medien produziert, reproduziert, modifiziert oder verworfen werden. Schleier und Kopftuch tauchen häufig in Migrationsdiskursen auf und dienen dabei der Markierung kultureller Differenz.
Wir haben den Fokus auf Pressefotografien gelegt, um solche Konstruktionen aufzuzeigen. Pressefotografien sind bedeutend, aufgrund der Suggestivkraft von Bildern, aber auch, weil sie in Printmedien einen immer größeren Platz einnehmen. Dabei hilft uns das Konzept medialer Räume, die sozialen, kulturellen und identitätsbildenden Komponenten der Berichterstattung über Schleier und Kopftuch zu analysieren.

In order to demonstrate these constructs, we have focused primarily on press photography. Press photos are significant because of the inherent suggestive power of images, but also due to their increasing prominence in print media. The concept of media spaces helps us to analyze the social, cultural and identity-forming components of [media] reporting on veil and head scarf.

Die Rhön und ihre Natur
Die Rhön besteht größtenteils aus Gesteinsarten wie Buntsandstein, Muschelkalk und stellenweise auch Keuper. Im Mittel- und Jungtertiär wurden diese durch phonolithische und basaltische Vulkanschlote durchschlagen und teilweise mit basaltischen Deckenergüssen überzogen.
Die charakteristischen Kuppen in der Umgebung von Rasdorf sind in Millionen von Jahren entstanden; markantes Beispiel ist das benachbarte Hessische Kegelspiel. Die Rhön wird in den niederschlagsreichen und rauen Hochflächen hauptsächlich durch Weiden und einmähdige Wiesen getragen. Auf dem schwer durchlässigen Basaltgrund haben sich das Rote und Schwarze Moor angesiedelt, ebenso Zwergstrauchweiden, Borstgrasrasen, Heidel- und Preiselbeeren sowie Wachholderbüsche.
Einen Einblick in 200 Millionen Jahre Erdgeschichte gibt der Rundweg „Gesteine und die Entwicklung der Landschaft".
Elemente der Kulturlandschaft lernt der Wanderer unter der Überschrift „Eine intakte Landschaft ist nicht nur grün" im Rasdorfer Landschafts- und Informationszentrum kennen.
Neben einer einzigartigen Pflanzenwelt kann man in der Rhön nicht selten den Eisvogel oder die Wasseramseln erblicken. In diesem Refugium gibt es rund 20.000 Tierarten. Auf Grenz- und Naturlehrpfaden lässt sich von hier aus eine einzigartige Natur erwandern.

Vom Fuß des Gehilfersberges hat der Besucher ein wunderbares Panorama auf die Berge der Thüringer Rhön.
Neben den kulturhistorischen Sehenswürdigkeiten bietet Rasdorf einen modern eingerichteten Jugendzeltplatz sowie das Landschaftsinformationszentrum "Hessisches Kegelspiel" im ältesten Gebäude des Ortes, dem 400 Jahre alten ehemaligen Stiftsherrenhaus. The Rhön region and its natural surroundings
The Rhön region consists largely of rock formations of variegated sandstone, shell limestone and, in places, also Keuper claystone. In the Middle and late Triassic epochs, they were breached by phonolithic and basaltic volcanic funnels and partially coated by basaltic eruptions.
The characteristic peaks in the region around Rasdorf were formed over millions of years, of which the neighboring Hessian Kegelspiel (game of cones) group of peaks is a striking example. On its precipitation-rich, harsh plateaus, the Rhön is primarily borne by pastures and meadows mowed once annually. Red and Black marshes have settled on the almost impermeable basalt ground, along with dwarf shrub pastures, mat grass fields, blueberries, cranberries and juniper bushes.
The “Rock formations and the development of the landscape” circular route provides insights into 200 million years of geological history.
The hiker can acquaint him or herself with elements of the cultural landscape at the Rasdorf landscape and information center, under the title “An intact landscape is not only green”.
Apart from its unique vegetation, in the Rhön region it is not uncommon to catch a glimpse of a kingfisher or white-throated dipper. This natural refuge is home to around 20,000 animal species. From here, boundary paths and nature trails give you hiking access to a uniquely beautiful natural habitat.
The city of Geisa
Geisa is not only the "Point Alpha City" but, given its almost 1200 year history, is replete with numerous historical structures and picturesque nooks. The city of Geisa is situated right in the heart of Germany, in the magnificent landscape of the Thuringian Rhön. Our homeland, the historical “Geisaer Amt”, is a region with huge potential, both in terms of the economy and tourism.

Rasdorf
Due to its age, history, monuments and the layout of the village itself, Rasdorf is undoubtedly the most interesting among all the villages of the former Bishopric of Fulda. The parish church, erected in 1274 as an abbey church, is graced by columns and capitals that make it one of the most valuable village churches of the Fulda diocese.
Rasdorf possesses one of the largest surviving fortress graveyards (protection for man and beast in times of war) as well as the largest village green in Hesse. In addition to the Maria Ehrenberg in the Rhön region, the pilgrimage chapel on the Gehilfersberg was the most significant of its kind in the Fulda countryside. From the base of the Gehilfersberg, visitors have a wonderful panoramic view of the mountains of the Thuringian Rhön.
Apart from the cultural historical places of interest, Rasdorf has a modern, well-equipped, youth camping site and the Landscape Information Center “Hessisches Kegelspiel” in the oldest building of the town, the 400 year old former canon’s house. Among other things, it presents the natural topographic foundations of the region, such as its geology and soil science, and is complemented by a rock garden as well as themed trails for hikers (mentioned in “The Rhön and its natural surroundings”).

Zur Strukturierung der Strategien und Erscheinungsformen des Ambush Marketing wird ein neuer Strukturierungsansatz entwickelt, der im Ergebnis die bislang umfassendste Typologie zur Systematisierung der Bandbreite des Ambush Marketing liefert: Differenziert werden unterschiedliche Kategorien, Fallgruppen und insgesamt 21 verschiedene Fälle von Ambush Marketing. Jeder einzelne der unterschiedenen Fälle wird gekennzeichnet und durch Beispiele aus der Praxis illustriert. Für große Aufmerksamkeit durch medienwirksame Ambush-Marketing-Aktionen sorgte im Rahmen der letzten beiden Fußball-Weltmeisterschaften 2010 und 2006 die Biermarke Bavaria aus dem niederländischen Heineken-Konzern. Exemplarisch werden die beiden Ambush-Marketing-Fälle von Bavaria ausführlich beschrieben und im Einzelnen analysiert.
Aus der sich anschließenden allgemeinen Veranschaulichung der Konsequenzen von Ambush Marketing für offizielle Sponsoren, Event-Veranstalter, die Medien und die weitere Entwicklung des Sportmarkts wird deutlich, dass Ambush Marktring im Schnittbereich von zwei gegensätzlichen Interessenssphären angesiedelt ist, die einen Verteilungskampf um das Marketingpotenzial eines Sport-Events führen: Auf der einen Seite steht die abschätzige Betrachtung des Ambush Marketing, die rechtlich und/oder ethisch begründet wird. Auf der anderen Seite steht die respektvolle Einschätzung von Ambushern, die sich durch innovatives, kreatives Marketing auszeichnen.
Eine abschließende kritische Gesamtbewertung des Ambush Marketing kann nicht pauschal, erfolgen, vielmehr wird hierfür zwischen den zuvor herausgearbeiteten Ambushing-Kategorien bzw. -Fallgruppen differenziert. Aus der Kombination einer rechtlich-gesetzlichen Betrachtung auf der einen und einer ethisch-moralischen Bewertung auf der anderen Seite wird eine Vier-Felder-Matrix entwickelt, anhand derer die Einordnung der Ambush-Marketing-Fallgruppen in einen Gesamtkontext vorgenommen werden kann. Im Hinblick auf ihre praktischen Managementimplikationen werden die Formen "eindämmbares Ambush Marketing", "umstrittenes Ambush Marketing", "geduldetes Ambush Marketing" und "innovatives Ambush Marketing" voneinander getrennt und erläutert.
Die im Rahmen des vorliegenden Beitrags durchgeführte Analyse führt zu dem Ergebnis, dass eine generelle Be- oder Verurteilung von Ambush Marketing nicht möglich ist. Ambush Marketing beinhaltet Chancen und Risiken und muss vielmehr differenziert betrachtet werden. Damit ist und bleibt Ambush Marketing umstritten. Event-Sponsoring und Ambush Marketing werden sich auch in Zukunft als konkurrierende Kommunikationsinstrumente bei sportlichen Großereignissen gegenüberstehen, da nicht zuletzt die Anzahl an Event-Sponsorships beschränkt ist und somit nicht jedes sportmarketinginteressierte Unternehmen offizieller Sponsor werden kann. Einen sachgerechten und verhältnismäßigen Lösungsansatz könnte ein eingeschränkter Veranstaltungsschutz darstellen. Es gilt, ein gutes Mittelmaß zu finden, so dass die Finanzierung sportlicher Großevents gesichert bleibt und parallel ein gerechter Wettbewerb unter werbenden Unternehmen getreu dem Motto "wer sich nicht unterscheidet, der scheidet aus" stattfinden kann.
Traduction - anglais This article aims to comprehensively characterise the interdisciplinary phenomenon of Ambush Marketing that has been the subject of extensive controversial discussion, structure its manifestations, illustrate the consequences associated with Ambush Marketing and provide a critical evaluation from an objective perspective so as to extrapolate management implications for event organisers and official sponsors.
Alternative: The aim of this article is to comprehensively characterise the interdisciplinary, much debated controversial phenomenon of Ambush Marketing, structure its manifestations, illustrate the consequences arising from Ambush Marketing and provide a critical evaluation from a neutral perspective in order to derive management implications for event organisers and official sponsors.
Initially, various approaches to the definition of Ambush Marketing are presented and the objectives pursued with Ambush Marketing identified. A new [structuring] approach has been developed for the purposes of structuring the strategies and manifestations of Ambush Marketing. Ultimately, it delivers the most comprehensive typology assembled to date in the service of a systematic organisation of the broad scope of Ambush Marketing: a variety of categories, groups of cases and a total of 21 different cases of Ambush Marketing are distinguished. Each and every one of the various cases is defined and illustrated by means of practical reference examples. During the last two Football World Cup Championships in 2010 and 2006, a great deal of attention was generated by the Heineken Group’s Bavaria beer brand with its media-effective Ambush Marketing campaigns. Good examples, both of these cases of Ambush Marketing are described in detail and individually analysed.
Based on the subsequent overall articulation of the consequences of Ambush Marketing for official sponsors, event organisers, the media and the further development of the sports market it becomes abundantly clear that Ambush Marketing is situated at the intersection of two opposing spheres of interest conducting a battle for shares of the marketing potential of a sports event. On one side there is the disparaging view of Ambush Marketing founded on legal and/or ethical considerations. On the other, we have the respectful assessment of Ambushers characterised by their innovative, creative marketing.
In conclusion, a critical overall evaluation of Ambush Marketing does not allow for a blanket approach. In point of fact, the approach applied is one of differentiating amongst the Ambushing categories and/or case groups that have previously been presented in detail. A four-field matrix emerges from the combination of a legal-statutory consideration on one hand and an ethical-moral assessment on the other. This forms the basis for the classification of Ambush Marketing case groups in terms of the overall context. With a view to their pragmatic management implications, its various forms, “Containable Ambush Marketing”, “Controversial Ambush Marketing”, “Tolerated Ambush Marketing” and “Innovative Ambush Marketing” are each treated separately and explained.
The analysis conducted in the context of this article leads to the conclusion that a general evaluation or condemnation of Ambush Marketing is not feasible. Ambush Marketing entails risks and opportunities and must, instead, be contemplated in differentiated terms. Ambush Marketing is controversial and remains so. In the future, event sponsorship and Ambush Marketing will continue to confront one another as competing communications disciplines at major sports events. If nothing else, due to the fact that event sponsorships are limited in number so that not every company with an interest in sports marketing will have the opportunity to become an official sponsor. Limited event protection could conceivably represent an appropriate and proportionate solution. A good balance must be sought to secure the financing of mega sports events and at the same time enable fair competition amongst advertiser companies in terms of the slogan “those who don’t delineate themselves are eliminated”.
