Apr 30, 2021 (posted viaProZ.com): A book translation of Xavier Léons 'The Philosophy of Fichte', Léons seminal 1902 work which introduced the German philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte to French academia for the first time. It is a comprehensive overview of his philosophical doctrine, which, like his contemporaries, engages questions left over from Kant's 'Critiques' as concerns the question of the possibility of knowledge. Quite a mouth full, but very rewarding! Expect to find it in print and online sometime next year!...more »

French to English: German Idealism: 'The Philosophy of Fichte' Xavier Leon General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Philosophy
Translation - English As thus qualified, we already find within Kant’s doctrine the trace of this notion of an intuition which is not sensible, seeing as sensibility is precisely that which the Command compresses and combats as foreign to the nature of Reason. This is the trace of an intuition which expresses the Act of pure reason, if not as immediate realization, then as necessary being. Thus, this intuition of an Ideal –as that which realizes itself, this intuition of the idea producing, from its own substance and by its own activity, a reality which conforms to itself –what is it, if not an intellectual intuition, the intuition or the Act of the I which constructs Being (Être)? And it is exactly this notion which, within Kant’s doctrine, makes of Morality such an important feature, which makes of it the executive function, even, of practical Reason itself.

Translation - English What is the purpose of conflict management for an organization, and why is it employed?
In order for an organization to be effective and efficient in attaining its objectives, it is essential that each team, department, and employee share the same vision of said objectives. Similarly, it is important to have the proper tools at one’s disposal in order to recognize and resolve those conflicts which may crop up, as an escalation of conflict between employees may render teamwork and cooperation impossible. Such a situation must not be left to fester. These tools help to find a quick resolution for such conflicts; and what’s more, they provide a method through which these conflicts might be de-escalated before becoming major obstacles to the work and functioning of an organization. Conflicts crop up in any organization, whether they be an NGO, a budgetary commission, a political party, society at large, or a government.
Conflict management is achieved through a planning process which aims as much as possible at minimizing the possibility of a conflict manifesting as such, and it is important to recognize the difference between “conflict” and “competition”.

Translation - English We’d now arrived, through sheer chance from the path our steps had traced, at rue du Faubourg-Poissonniere. All around us people were hurrying; it was coming on dinner time. As I want to take my leave of her, she asks me whose waiting for me. “My wife.” “ –Married! Oh! so…” and, in a different, very serious tone, resigned. “Just as well. But…and this big idea? I’d just begun to see it so well. It really was a star, a destiny towards which you were heading. You couldn’t have failed to reach that star. To hear you talk, I feel that nothing can stop you; nothing, not even me…you could never see this destiny like I see it. You don’t understand: it’s like the heart of a flower without a heart.” I am extremely moved. To make a diversion, I ask her where she is dining. And suddenly that lightness that I’d not seen but in her, that freedom more precisely: “Where? (pointing a finger) Well there, or there (the two restaurants closest to us), where I am, understand. It’s always like that.”
Just as I’m going, I want to ask her a question, which sums up all the others, a question that there is no one but me to ask, without a doubt, but which –at least once –found an answer in her nobility; “Who are you?” And her, without hesitation; “I am the soul wandering.” We agree to meet up again the next day at a bar on the corner of rue Lafayette and faubourg Poissonière. She wanted to read one or two of my books and this will stick with me all the more, for I doubt she would have found them interesting. Life is other than what we write. A few moments more she kept me to tell me what it is in me that’s touched her. It’s in my thoughts, in my language, in all my manner of being, it seems it's (and it’s this which makes it one of the most sensitive compliments I’ve ever received in my life) my simplicity.
