Berdasarkan uraian pada rujukan di bawah ini, saya menyimpulkan bahwa dalam konteks ini:

floating = tidak terhubung dg kabel arde (pentanahan/ground).

Karena komponen kontak (applied part) tsb tidak terhubung dg "tanah" (maksudnya tentu saja kabel arde atau kabel pentanahan pada rangkaian listrik), maka digunakan istilah kiasan 'melayang' (floating).

Ya, benda yg tidak menyentuh tanah itu memang disebut melayang atau mengambang.

Selanjutnya,

body = bersentuhan dg badan; untuk ringkasnya saya usulkan 'kontak badan.'

cardiac = bersentuhan dg jantung; untuk ringkasnya saya usulkan 'kontak jantung.'

Berbeda kedua kategori BF dan CF, pada komponen kontak kategori B, komponen kontak tsb dihubungkan dg kabel arde.

Karena terhubung dg kabel arde, maka komponen kontak ini aman bagi pasien karena pasien terlindung dari sengatan listrik akibat adanya arus bocor.

Jika terjadi arus bocor (leakage current), arus tsb segera disalurkan ke kabel arde yg kemudian menyalurkannya ke tanah, dan arus tsb dinetralkan oleh tanah.

Karena itulah, kategori B ini disebut sebagai kategori yg paling longgar dalam hal kehati2an operator saat penggunaan komponen kontak.

Kategori BF lebih ketat, artinya operator harus lebih berhati2 dalam menggunakan komponen kontak pada pasien.

Kategori CF paling ketat sehingga operator harus sangat hati2 saat menggunakan komponen kontak.
