Part shape or geometry effects pack density (i.e. short length bolts and those with small or round head shapes have a higher pack density). Higher pack density will minimize heat transfer capabilities; therefore these parts will be loaded at a lower rate. To help ensure that the parts are not loaded too heavily, the operator will monitor the température controllers/charts to make sure the critical furnace zones are not “pulled down”. In addition, the operators will observe, on a continual basis, the load through the “peep” sites to visually confirm proper “soak out” and an even uniform flow across the belt (on applicable furnaces).
