Catalan to English
Medical
Medical (general)
sick note (for Social Security)
"Missatge pel treballador:
EL PRÒXIM PARTE EL METGE O INFERMERA LI HA D'ENTREGAR UN COMUNICAT-INFORME PER PODER CONTINUAR AMB LA BAIXA"
I would have thought this should be "PART", not "PARTE", or maybe I'm missing something... Even so, what is PART/PARTE in this context?
Many thanks

the next medical certificate
"parte" is the term used for a medical certificate (sick note), which is required to continue receiving sickness benefit. I suppose it is a report of sorts in as much as a UK sick note is a medical report, i.e it gives the reason for being off work/claiming, but really it is a medical certificate.

the next report
"parte" exists as a masculine noun both in Spanish and Catalan, meaning report, dispatch, bulletin, etc.
Note from asker:
Hello, and thanks very much for your suggestion. I had already considered this option - but it seems strange to be saying that the doctor or nurse will be providing a report at the time of the next report... so; I assume(d) that isn't what it means... I was thinking that it would be something like "the next visit" or "the next check-up" ...? :S |
