This text is about the torch relay during the 2006 Asian Games, which took place in Qatar.
I am confused about the term فارس قطر
Some possibilities that come to mind:
Is this supposed to be a title of honor? If so, how can it be expressed in English?
Is he literally a knight (like those knighted by the Queen of England)?
Or, is the word referring to him as an equestrian?
As usual, any help is very much appreciated.

Qatari(Qatar) Knight
It's a title of honor in the Arabian Heritage. We'd also say manners of knights(أخلاق الفرسان) which stands for something big and noble. You can translate it as knight of Qatar or Qatar Knight.

Comment: "Thank you for the explanation, which seems to make sense in this context. I did not, however, translate the title as "Knight," which I believe would sound odd in English."
