"Relief Teacher" seems to be more commonly used in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. As I mentioned below, in the US, the common expression is "substitute teacher."

(بالمكافأة) means that he will be paid based on the work done / days attended. He was NOT a permanent teacher. He could be laid off without any severance pay at any time.

agree Fuad Yahya : In the US, we use the expression "sub" (for "sbustitute teacher"), becuase such a teacher typically fills in when a permanent teacher is on leave for illness, maternity, or other reason.
