In terms of school subjects, this is about describing world issues.
AllegroTrans's suggested "challenges" sounds like overtranslation to me: "issue" here is used to mean describing a problem (synonym) or a situation, whereas "challenge" appears to go one step further and sounds as if you're asked to offer a solution.
The "Major" is there alright, it's hiding in plain sight just after "Law".
"grands enjeux" suggest s.t. far more dramatic so it should be at least "Major Issues".
A propos "stakes", the "stakes of politics" (les enjeux politiques) is not exactly some unknown expression invented by some chat bot.
