Portuguese term

Empresas Solidárias

Portuguese to English Other Business/Commerce (general)
This is for a charity.
They have a list of businesses that support them: partners, sponsorships, etc.
On that list, they have 'Empresas Solidárias' (these are businesses that provide them with services, equipment, and materials).
What would you call them?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Portuguese term (edited): Empresa/s Solidária/s

Back-Up Organs/zation/s

I don't want to get anyone's 'back up', but empresa in Portuguese or Spanish may not be a company at all, rather a partnership, a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) or a general business undertaking standing 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with the choice charitable association.

PS The law of business organis/zations - usually (badly) taught as a subject at UK law schools that shall remain nameless - would IMO encompass such 'empresas' in various guises.
Example sentence:

Why do I need to specify a backup organization when purchasing a charitable 'gift card?'

Corporate volunteering (services)

This is something that may work:

"What is corporate volunteering and how can it work for your charity?"

Hi Tania, I understand what you are saying, which is why I added the optional use of "service(s)". The term corporate implies company nonetheless, but as all endeavours of this sort, the work would always be carried out be individuals.
I guess if you simply said "corporate volunteer service" (rather than volunteerING, it might sound more appropriate.

... I think the problem is that using the term "charity" will always imply financial donations, while with the limitations of English, a business service is still implicit in this term.

Hello. I am aware they are not a company. This is why the terms "corporate" is important - it describes that this is a company, offering its services.

You could perhaps say "corporate volunteer company" , that would work too.

"Corporate volunteering may be practical or it may be skills-based, making use of the experience of qualified professionals to perform specialised tasks or advise on strategy. Skills might be from the absolute basics to leadership-level, and staff might volunteer as a group or individually, for a set amount of time, as ’micro-volunteers’ undertaking quick tasks, for a one-off event or project over a longer period, or on an ongoing basis"

"Take your CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING programme to the next level"

"To provide a more co-ordinated and CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING SERVICE, to complement the functions provided by VAL ,...>"

Note from asker:
Corporate volunteering talks a lot about the individuals, but in this case it's the companies that offer these services or equipment or materials. The title is 'Empresas Solidárias' and then it lists the companies and what they offer.
Lara, I'll try and explain again. These companies are not charities, they provide services, equipment, and materials to a charity (not just services). I'm looking for what to call them, not the charity.
