Portuguese term

manobra expositiva

Portuguese to English Medical Medical: Health Care Surgery
In a step-by-step description of laparoscopic surgery, this term is used repeatedly, both in the text and as section headings.
For example: "A manobra expositiva para a dissecção da artéria se inicia..."
Or just as a heading "Manobras Expositivas".
Tks.

Discussion

Colin Bowles (asker) Apr 4, 2022:
Option I will go with "exposure maneuver". Tks to all.
Colin Bowles (asker) Mar 30, 2022:
Context Yes Muriel, I agree that Mattox is a specific maneuver. The term in my context is used to mean any maneuver(s) to provide access to the area to be operated on. Based on my Google search, "exposure maneuver" looks like a possibility.
Muriel Vasconcellos Mar 29, 2022:
More context? What part of the body is being subjected to the surgery? For example, the Mattox maneuver appears to be very specific. It's a rotation:

A left medial visceral rotation, the Mattox maneuver, is performed for exposure of the entire aorta from the diaphragmatic hiatus caudally to the iliac vessels. **The only indication for use of this maneuver is a central supramesocolic retroperitoneal hematoma (1).**

surgical / Mattox maneuver

Laparotomy is one of the most common surgical procedures performed for abdominal trauma. The essence of a successful trauma laparotomy outcome relies on a methodical sequence of steps, surgical knowledge of maneuvers, and sound surgical decisions based on evidence and experience. Surgical maneuvers have been developed over years of experience to enable the surgeon to gain access to injuries of deep abdominal structures, identify these injuries and address them appropriately. Complete left medial visceral rotation or Mattox maneuver is one such intraoperative surgical innovation which has revolutionized the trauma surgery since the 1970s.

Definition

Mattox Maneuver, also known as a left medial visceral rotation, is a surgical step to explore and handle Zone 1 and 2 retroperitoneal injuries (aorta, left iliac and pelvic vessels). It starts with incising the parietal peritoneum at the white line of Toldt from the sigmoid colon to the splenic flexure. The spleen, tail of the pancreas, left kidney, and stomach are mobilized and reflected medially during this maneuver to explore the deeper structures. PS: I don't recommend using "Mattox maneuver" unless validated by your client. Most definitely, "surgical maneuver".

surgical exposition maneuver

Extended Kocher’s manoeuvre is a part of Cattel–Braasch manoeuvre and generally consists of full exposition of the inferior vena cava (IVC)

Aqui eles nominam uma manobra (Kocher) que consiste na exposição (exposition) da veia cava inferior, na minha opinião usar o termo "surgical exposition maneuver" é uma boa escolha neste contexto.

Note from asker:
Entendo o sentido do termo; só não consigo pensar num termo ou expressão adequada e concisa em inglês. Não achei exemplos de "exhibition maneuver" no Google.
Tks for suggestion.
