On supported scaffolds, working platforms/decks must be planked close to the guardrails. Planks are to be overlapped on a support at least 6 inches, but not more than 12 inches.

@All: The supports across which planks are placed may be horizontal (a horizontal scaffold member) as well as vertical. I believe that "podpora" connotes a vertical, not a horizontal support. There can be many more horizontal supports than vertical.

This parallels a load-bearing structure, that is. something, that can support the weight above. Since we do not know the detailed name of the structural element, I generically call it an element.
