pasta de mil hojas

The term followed a list of food/dishes.

How to translated the term? Or what is it? Is there an equivalent food in English? Is it a Spanish pastry?

@Lisa Yes, I read that. But we still need more context.
From what we have so far, I gather it is "empanaditas" made with puff pastry (or a choice of puff and some other pastry, depending on what follows in the list)

@ cgowar It's not a dish and not a menu, as Erwin has now clarified. But we still don't know what type of text it is or what else is listed, apart from the term being listed under 'empanaditas'.

Erwin You should provide more context. Where is it from? What sort of list is it? In many countries the word "milhojas/mil hojas" is used to refer to a dessert, usually made with puff/filo pastry and some sort of cream or jam o a mixture. The pastry itself is just a type of pastry, not a dish.

Erwin It's important to provide context at the beginning - by saying 'dishes' you make people believe it's a menu or a list of dishes. Otherwise we all waste our time.

Puff pastry Mil hojas a very standard kind of pastry, puff pastry, and if you've had it, "mil hojas" is a logical name, since it's so flaky. Making it involves a lot of butter. Often it's served as upper and lower layers like a sandwich with a filling in between.

Not a menu I wrote "dishes" because I am not sure if it is pastry; so the general term "food." The term followed "empanaditas." Also the term is written pasta de mil hojas, not milhojas.

Not a dessert But a type of pastry, which can be used for sweet or savory dishes. The concept is also used as a fancy name for layered preparations, like one of the links you published, particularly with the French and Italian words. One example:

But if that were the case here it should be "milhojas de pasta" and NOT "pasta de mil hojas".

Maybe no real need to add 'pastry', but wrong to put 'pasta'.

the word 'pasta' is used in English solely for Italian style spaghetti, tagliatelle,
penne, linguine, etc. It cannot be used for 'pastry'

Yes, that is so but when you use the word 'pasta' in English, you mean the type of Italian pasta that lasagne is one example of. It does not mean pastry

OK, as I see now that it's not a menu (would've been better to have this info at the beginning to save time:-) it's more likely to be millefeuille pastry here, or millefeuille dough.

Thanks, Phil. Yes, more likely to be a dessert but as no specific context given I though I'd give both options.
agree Helena Chavarria : I don't think it refers to a dessert. For a dessert you might say 'mil hojas de nata y chocolate' or 'mil hojas de something', but 'pasta de mil hojas' can only mean Italian pasta. In English we use 'layered' but there's not really a Spanish equivalent.
