Also the condensate in the steam can coat the oil droplets causing delayed and incomplete burning. Superheated steam often causes the light components of the fuel to flash in the oil gun. This will give heavy intermittent oil slugs passing through the gun. These slugs of oil cannot be atomized properly causing delayed or incomplete combustion. Also the superheated steam will often not have enough mass to properly atomize the heavier oils.
