This is a good example of why a question should not contain more than one term. The answer has two parallel discussions going on: one about the "neck" of the foot, and the other about the type of fracture. How can one answer be picked?

that's what I assumed as well David, but see my last ref re "Cuello del pie/Neck of the foot". Besides, we're not being asked for a definition of the neck of the foot, but a translation of "cuello del pie"

Sorry Liz, not sure what you're getting at... Surely the point here is the translation of "cuello de pie" and not whether this is the bottom of the tibia, the "ankle bone", or the name denoting a more generalised area taking in part of the foot and leg

Well, as a medical translator I would be dissatisfied with "neck" :-) Each to his/her own.
agree Joseph Tein : HI Liz ... I certainly agree that "neck of the foot" is inappropriate; we need to translate into what is standard usage in our target language, not word-for-word. We DO need to know "what it actually is" (although I don't believe it's the talus).
