These are several option that describe the situation where one nods to what is being said, as if agreeing with that, but knowing intimately that he/she doesn't really mean it. In Portugal there is a saying that says, "Arte de agradar, arte de enganar", something more or less like "The art of pleasing is the art of deceiving."
