Hello Colleagues,

Since I have started as a Freelance Translator at ProZ in June 2011, I was wondering, what kind of bookkeeping software I could use?

My husband is a computer programmer and could write something for me. But perhaps, already something exists for us translators?

N.B. These reductions due to repetitions in Trados are in my opinion a bit strange. My client is punishing me, because I have bought a good CAT-tool? Tssss…..

Here is the list that I can remember... perhaps others can add to it:

dsTransManager

Freeware, but can't do VAT (as far as I remember)

Customer Pro-File

The translators' version is old and is not mentioned on the web site.

TOM (Translators' Office Manager)

EUR 165 for freelancer version (there is also an agency version), 30-day trial.

Translation Office 3000

Should this be dictated by your tax compliance requirements? We don't do formal bookkeeping for purposes other than taxes, do we? That would be different in each country... unless what you really meant was project/receivables management or something like that.

I can offer you using a simple excel based table, it's pretty simple and free.
