Hi All,

An advertizing e-mail for Whitesmoke made me look around for comments and opinions. That's how I learned of Bullfighter.

Now, on their Web site they say that Bullfighter works best with Word 2002 and 2003 but not or at least not so well with Word 2000.

Well, I have Word 2000.

Does anyone have experience with Bullfighter at all? And who can work with Bullfighter and Word 2000?

I also found comments on Correct English and AbiWord.

How are those faring in terms of grammar, spelling and punctuation and even style?

And if I were you, I'd believe it. There's also no tech support. However, it's free, so unless it wrecks your computer it might be worth a shot.

Those look interesting. Along the lines of Bullfighter and Correct English, you might be interested in a book called "Edit Yourself: A Manual for Everyone Who Works with Words" by Bruce Ross-Larson. Same idea in a book instead of software.

I will check out Bullfighter, although running that over some of the business stuff I get might not leave much!

Thanks Daina,

I always prefer books to software wherever possible anyway.

It's just that I would like to have something running in the background that's a bit more sophisticated than, say, the Firefox spellcheck add-on.

I always read through everything twice, yet I can only correct what I see. And having someone to proofread your e-mails to pick out that one spelling mistake you make in dozens of e-mails you send every day just for the sake of absolute flaw... See more

Yes, Henry, that's the problem - I don't know whether my computer is going to pout because it doesn't like being used as a guinea pig. So that's why I opted for asking others about their experience.
