Dear Friends, we start our own small translation company. Please, recommend us a good software for professional translation. Thanks in advance

The market standard for a word processor is Microsoft Word. In spite of its countless bugs, flaws, instability, and other shortcomings, it's the market standard that replaced fountain pens and the typewriter.

then forget it. They do not provide professional translation. If you want Machine Assisted Human Translation (MAHT) then there is an array of tools available. The market standard is Trados, but DVX and Wordfast are also popular, to name a few.

I've heard that electronic mail can make your translation turnaround a lot quicker. Look for Outlook, Thunderbird or similar software packages...

I am just wondering... If you need people on a forum to recommend you professional translation software, then, how can you be sure that you are ready to open an agency? In my mind, not only do you need to have a good idea of the differences between all availble software, you also need to be experienced in their use before even opening a company. This doesn't seem to be your case...

While I agree with all my colleagues here, I am wondering too.
You can provide the most professional translation written in Word (or with a pen, for that matter), and you can provide the most amateurish translation with Trados and consorts.
I assume that you want to build up a TM and such. This has nothing to do with "professional translation" per se.

I agree with you, but I am a manager and have Uni business degree.
My task is to set up a business company.
I wonder how people can start their company without having any business degree.:)
