Course summary
Description Today’s “cloudy” environment for translators poses a greater demand on his/her skills, becoming language command just one link in the chain. But this is not supposed to be negative for translators, on the contrary, learning and mastering on them will actually lead to streamlining their skills and broadening opportunities. In this course, attendees will learn about several supporting tools (both for free and fee-based) available to help them better organize and optimize production, improving time-efficiencies and translation quality. This is not intended to be a showcase of third parties’ software, the main aim is to provide translators and reviewers with a bunch of useful and user-friendly technologies that they can seamlessly incorporate in their daily toolbox. Taking advantage of today’s technologies, such as automatic QA checks and working in the cloud, will foster teamworking and thus professionalization of the individual linguist. Main objectives: - Identify translators’ weaknesses and the appropriate tools to deal with them - Understand the cloud and find practical and useful ways of being part of it - Spotting new potential business for translators Course design: Application interfaces will be shown to depict their functionalities.
