Would this be something like a 'mould seam'? I am imagining it meaning unwanted lines or seams on the cast metal once it is taken out of the cast or mould....
but can't find conclusive evidence that this is the industry term used. Any ideas?
Thanks!

mould seam/ mould ridge
Mould seam or ridge are the terms generally used I believe. When an object is cast from a two part mould there will be a line (seam) around the middle where the two halves were joined so this normally needs to be sanded or filed down.
