French term

pignon de minuterie

French to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting Precision engineering
(I have checked the glossary entries for decolletage).
I'm translating text in note form relating to a company that manufactures 'bar-turned' parts. Please excuse the missing accents on the text below, which I have had to type straight in here:

I'm currently thinking that 'minuterie' refers to a timing mechanism and may be linked with the previously mentioned 'decolletage horlogerie' - although I wonder if it might be more to do with timer mechanisms (spindles or cogs) for devices other than clocks/watches. Is anyone familiar with this term?
I am still researching this, but I am sure that someone will get there quicker than me! Thanks in advance for any help here.

watch wheels/pinions

Given the reference to "horlogerie" I take it this refers specifically to watches - which is surely where the money is! Does anyone other than the famous watchmakers still make clockwork timing devices? (makes me think of an episode of one of the recent Doctor Who series ...).

In what follows, "pignon de minuterie" is very specific, and is part of the "mobile de minuterie" = "minute wheel and pinion". Since I doubt your firm is so specialized as to make only this particular part of a watch, I assume they are using the term with a more general meaning, referring to all kinds of wheels and pinions found in watches (particularly).

EN) The invention relates to a watch movement comprising an annular casing (10), having an external diameter D, which is provided with a central round opening (48) that is defined by an internal diameter d. According to the invention, the gear train (34) comprises a mobile (36) consisting of a minute wheel (36a) and a pinion (36b), a cannon pinion (38), which is driven by the minute wheel (36a) and intended to support a minute hand (40), and an hour wheel (42) which is driven by the PINION (36b) and intended to support an hour hand (44). The cannon pinion (38) and the hour wheel (42) are concentric to the casing (10) and are provided with a central opening that is more or less equal to d. The minute wheel (36a) is provided with a diameter that is slightly smaller than (D-d)/2.
