English term

badass

Homework / test English to Spanish Social Sciences Slang
The text I am translating is about sociology. I will keep the word in English because of the many connotations, qhich are specifically cultural. Yet I want to include a translation, either with a term or a paraphrase, and I would be glad of receiving any proposals.
I want to thank you in advance.

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Mar 16, 2004:
context it appears on a sociological text. It talks about the motivation for crime, which is beyond any instrumental reason. The text goes like this:
"Jack Katz in his Seductions of Crime (1988) points out that the Mertonian vision of crime simply does not fit the phenomenology of crime: the versatility, the zest, the sensuousness of the criminal act. He points to the attractions of evil, the ways of the 'badass', the transformative magic of violence."
Patricia Fierro, M. Sc. Mar 16, 2004:
Can you please provide some context?
