English term

lay /laid in

English to Spanish Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering riggings
CONTEXT: Lays of Wire Rope
Right regular lay:
Most common type.
Strands twist to the right.
Wires within a strand twist to left.

The most common type of wire rope construction for both wire rope chokers and crane hoist cable is right regular lay. This term means that the wire rope is laid in and that its strands twist, as in the photo above, to the right.
Regardless of which way you look at a Right Lay wire rope, the strands will always lay to the right.
Regular refers to the lay of the wire itself around the strands and the strand wire lay is actually to the left.
Therefore, Right Regular Lay wire rope is constructed of a series of left lay strands, positioned in a right lay pattern around the core of a either fiber or an independent wire rope.

Selected

torcido / dirección del acordonado-enrollamiento-cableado

They are all possible, but I´ve always seen "torcido" in texts.

"Right regular lay: > Torcido regular derecho" (sometimes referred to as "horario" -clockwise- instead of "derecho" ).

Good luck,
Rossana

paso

el paso de cables de acero...
paso izquierdo, paso derecho.. etc

Los cables de acero tienen un nucleo sobre el cual se enrolla en forma helicoidal otro conjunto de cables de acero.

ROPE LAY es tambien la longitud de cable en el cual un cable externo hace un giro completo alrededor del cable nucleo.
