Se mai poate lucra pe marginea expresiei, dar cred că se referă la the Jazz Age, anii 20-30.

"Alintat al presei" nu mi se pare suficient pt. că era un personaj alintat/ iubit în general, drama lui a impresionat f. mult. Cam de atunci a devenit "popular" cuvântul kidnapping.

Jazz Music in the 1920s

F. Scott Fitzgerald became famous as the chronicler of the 1920s. According to several sources, Fitzgerald named the 1920s the Jazz Age. He was right. Music celebrated the emotions of the people who believed America was at its peak. The snazzy tunes ran through the veins of flappers and their dance partners. Întrebarea a fost "darling of the jazz" şi credeam că aici e problema. Dar pentru un răspuns care să includă tot contextul ar veni "alintat al presei din epoca jazzului". Sau alte variante care să se refere la acea perioadă americană.

Sper că m-am exprimat mai bine de data asta.
