This setting manages the overall black level of the picture. Adjust it so the dark part of the picture is as dark as it can be without losing image detail. Play a DVD like Batman Begins, Cloverfield, or I Am Legend, and then pause during a scene that’s equal parts light and dark. Turn the brightness all the way up, and then start backing it down. When ***the letterbox bars*** start turning from gray to black, you’re in the zone. Continue to lower the brightness until details begin to fade into the background.
