Prezados Colegas,
Gostaria de saber a melhor tradução, do inglês para português, da expressão "flat females" (no caso, fêmeas de carrapatos), no seguinte contexto:
"Diferentiation: Males, FLAT FEMALES, semi-engorging females and engorged females."
Descobri que "semi-engorging and engorged females" são fêmeas semi-ingurgitadas e ingurgitadas. Será que, neste caso, eu deveria traduzir "flat females" como fêmeas não ingurgitadas? Alguém confirma ou tem alguma idéia melhor?

The term flat refers to how these ticks look, before they have taken a meal. A literal translation would be "chatas", as opposed to "plenas de sangue". However, I think your detective work has led to a more technical interpretation of the term, which is very satisfactory.
