Het enige wat ik zeg is dat de vertaling van "needle hub / hub of the needle" fout is.

En die vertaling is ook fout. Iedereen kan dat gemakkelijk nagaan.

En dat de vertaling 'canuleaansluiting' voor 'hub' ongebruikelijk en onvolledig is.

There are some fantastic resources out there. Medical is not my field, but I do know that the authors of the dictionary in question are most likely as trained, if not probably more so, than you. Have you practised as a medical doctor for many years, in both English and Dutch ... to make you so zeker van je zaak? If someone dedicates a large portion of their life to creating a medical dictionary, I somehow suspect they know what they are talking about. Of course, how we translators use such a dictionary is another matter altogether. So yes, I agree with you: we need to be careful with dictionaries, but I think that any professional translator worth his salt should shell out the measly few euros a year for the various professional resources out there. Constantly harping on about how bad and dangerous they are is just plain silly, especially when those doing the harping don't even own the dictionaries in question. Note that I'm not saying you don't own the Pinkhof Medisch Engels, just that people should actually have access to the things they are so critical about.

Dat uiteinde van kunststof is het aansluitstuk (niet bepaald de tip):

'canuleaansluiting' is niet gebruikelijk en het gaat lang niet altijd om een canule, het kan bijv. ook om hubs van allerlei soorten katheters gaan.

Goed voorbeeld van hoe voorzichtig je moet zijn met zo'n woordenboek.

Bovendien vind je in de meeste gevallen niet wat je nodig hebt.

I have zero knowledge of this stuff, but thought I'd have a look in Pinkhof Medisch Engels, just in case, which has the following for "hub":

hub = canuleaansluiting
hub of the needle = canuletip, naaldtip
needle point / size / hub / holder = canuletip, naaldtip

I'm sure Barend will be along shortly with the answer.

Ik maak uit de afbeeldingen op dat het een object is waar je de katheter doorheen steekt (of waarin je de katheter klemt vanaf de onderkant).

Het voordeel van het object zou dan zijn dat je de katheter er precies zo ver doorheen kunt steken als je wilt.
Als je dat punt hebt bereikt dan wordt het katheterstuk distaal van het object in het vat gestoken en het object bij de inbrengplaats op de huid bevestigt (terwijl er proximaal nog een stuk katheter beschikbaar is).

Normaliter is een hub een 'aansluitstuk' dat zich ook op de inbrengplaats bevindt maar dan op het proximale uiteinde van de katheter en waar andere hulpmiddelen op kunnen worden aangesloten.

Dat werkt nu niet.
Ik stel dan voor 'hub' onvertaald te laten omdat dat ook redelijk vaak gebeurt en zo houd je het verband/de herkenbaarheid met een 'normale hub/aansluitstuk
