Catalan term

llagut

Catalan to English Art/Literary Ships, Sailing, Maritime shipbuilding Middle Ages
The term I find in my dictionary is catboat, but I´m not sure that is right. Refers to a boat shipwrecked off the Mediterranean coast in the 14th century.
Proposed translations (English)
3 +2 (Mediterranean) skiff

Termcat gives the following explanation:

ca llagut, m
ca muleta, f sin. compl.
es chalupa

Bot de banc fix apte per a sis remers de punta i un timoner, amb el qual es disputen curses de rem, generalment, en mar oberta.

NT: Embarcació de rem de la Mediterrània, no reglamentada ni olímpica.

The Spanish chalupa is often translated as a "skiff", so maybe specifying that it was a "Mediterranean skiff" might do the trick.
But it depends on your context, was the boat a rowing boat?
Good luck!

agree Berni Armstrong : Carl's solution looks elegant enough for me.

Thanks Berni
agree Martin Perazzo : Yes, I've translated it a few times as a skiff, but I've also been asked to render it as "catboat" by the Museu Marítim de Barcelona (which should know what they're talking about!)
