Catalan term

i dit en resort

Catalan to English Medical Medical (general) orthopedic surgery
This phrase is Catalan; it has sneakily made its way into a mostly Spanish discharge summary (from Barcelona). The patient was hospitalized for a hip replacement, and this is from the Antecedents section:

IQ [surgery]: artrodesis lumbar L3-S1 1994, Hallux valgus *i dit en resort* (1998), Sd. subacromial 2014.

I think "dit" has to do with digits, but I can't find anything to help me with "en resort."

(I'm posting this as Spanish-English because I think more people will see the question this way, and I know that those few of you who answer Catalan questions will also see it.)

Gràcies per la vostra ajuda :)

Discussion

Joseph Tein (asker) Feb 6, 2018:
dedos I thought it had to be the toe also since it's in the same sentence as the hallux valgus. (Of course it's also possible that the patient had two separate problems the same year, but I would still say it's more likely that it's all about the toe.)

Thank you again, Marie.
Marie Wilson Feb 6, 2018:
Toe or finger All dedos in Spanish but the fact that it is mentioned just after hallux valgus I think toe is more likely.
Marie Wilson Feb 4, 2018:
Hammer toe I think. I know somebody who just had an operation for this, so it's all very familiar. Can also be mallet toe depending on the part of toe that's deformed.
Joseph Tein (asker) Feb 4, 2018:
Back to Spanish After finding it in French, I realized I could probably find it in Spanish and make my life easier. Looking for "dedo en resorte" you can find things like this:

"Dedo en resorte: Ocurre cuando un dedo o el pulgar se queda atascado en una posición doblada, como si estuviera apretando un gatillo. Una vez que se desatasca, el dedo saltará hacia fuera, como cuando se suelta un gatillo.

En casos graves, el dedo no se puede enderezar y se necesita cirugía para corregirlo."
Joseph Tein (asker) Feb 4, 2018:

Google shows a little box in English on this same page with the term "trigger finger" (also "trigger thumb"). Should I assume that this is the right translation?
Joseph Tein (asker) Feb 4, 2018:
Catalan description Here's a description from a Catalan site; I have no problem understanding this, but still can't think of how we would say "dit en resort" in English:

El dit en resort és un procés patològic causat per una inflamació dels tendons que flexionen els dits de les mans, com una tendinitis. En estar inflamats, els tendons augmenten de mida, ocasionant que els dits no es poden moure amb normalitat.

Introduction to Hammer Toes
Patients often refer to all forms of toe abnormalities as a hammer toe. There are in fact four main forms of toe abnormalities, hammer toes, claw toes, mallet toes and trigger toes. A hammer toe can be best described as an abnormal contraction or "buckling" of a toe. This occurs due to a partial or complete dislocation of one of the joints that form the toe.
If the deformity occurs in the large toe, it is known as a trigger toe.

Trigger toe is a toe deformity affecting the big toe. It can be caused by repetitive pressure, although it is not particularly well understood. A trigger toe is permanently bent, resembling a claw or trigger.

Catalan term (edited): Dit en resort

Trigger finger
