German term
Längsträgern

Medical: Instruments
From an X-ray report following a spinal fusion procedure. Here is the full sentence:
Z.n. dorsaler dynamischer Pedikel-basierter Stabilisierung L3-S1 mit paarig in L3, L4, L5 und S1 einliegenden Pedikelschrauben mit regelrechter Konvergenz und interponierten strahlentransparenten Längsträgern.
My understanding is that "Längsträgern" in this context must be either "bone plates" or "rods," but the text doesn't specify which. Is there a general English term for this hardware? Perhaps it could only be one (e.g. bone plates)? Would a literal translation like "interposed, radiolucent, longitudinal girders" suffice?
Thank you in advance (so as not to clutter the comments)!

longitudinal support(s)
If the specific nature of the support(s) is unknown (rods, etc.), then you could use this more general term which is frequently used in patents.
It does get numerous hits on Google, specifically in the context of orthopedic surgery. See references.
