German term

aufwändig

German to English Medical Medical (general) Surgery
Surgical report:
Examples:
Aufwändige Implantation einer zementfreien Hüft-TEP rechts,
Aufwändiges Weichteilrelease
Aufwändige Myoplastik zur Stabilisierung

Any suggestions for the best term to use for "Aufwändig" in these cases? I currently have "complex", but none of the meanings I have found so far get a great deal of hits in my searches.

Thanks for your help!
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Lancashireman

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

comprehensive

I have a feeling that in this context it might be one of those words that is used for almost entirely for the purpose of eliminating doubt or ambiguity.
Peer comment(s):

agree Harald Moelzer (medical-translator) : my first thought, too --- obviously comprehensive work has been done during surgery

Thank you!
agree Eleanore Strauss : I think complex and comprehensive would work well together.

extensive , sometimes also intensive may work

You could probably use different terms in your listing... anyway
"extensive" should work fine with most of your points ....works fine with soft tissue release e.g. :) :

with high resource use

I think it refers to the resource use which is linked to coding system (DRG in Germany), i.e. it is an economical issue. The reimbursement will be higher with a high resource use.

The additional HRG codes were
mostly created by granulating existing HRGs into several
splits that better reflect complications and comorbidities
and are therefore more suitable for distinguishing cases
with high-resource use, reflected either by higher cost or
longer length of stay.

Search for "aufwändige" (p. 216). These are notes for the coding procedure.

agree Anne Schulz : I agree that aufwändig is obviously meant as a reason or basis for charging more money.

complex

I would say in this specific context

--------------------------------------------------
