我认为这里只是将business model写成了动词形式model the business.
Business model商业模式，最简单的理解是how the company makes money，这个结构里包括产品如何带来收入，收入来源有多少，收入频率是多少等等。
有了这个模式，还可以复制，见知乎： “企业生长都遵循了这样的逻辑：发现需求——找到解决方案——形成产品和服务——建立商业模式——规模复制。”
原文的意思，虽然产品有提升，但是变量多，需求量不够，很难建立起一套商业模式。
