This abbreviation shows up in a CT scan report about a patient with multiple injuries following an accident.
The report says:
"Frattura dello sterno, di L2 ed L3 ... Argyle toracico a destra e SEG.
I find that an Argyle is a type of drain, so I imagine that SEG also refers to some sort of equipment used to treat/stabilize the patient, which is showing up on the scan.
What do the letters SEG stand for in Italian (they might even be an English term) and how do we say this in English?

IOW nasogastric tube - SEG is not the usual acronym (SNG is), but I can't see what else it could be in this instance.

| Ciao Sue. I thought it might be an NG tube, but the 'E' threw me off. Plus I tried to search with the word "sonda" which is my Spanish vocabulary leaking through ... should have used "sondino". Grazie tante! |
