Definition of a "medical practitioner"

What is a Medical Practitioner?

Medical practitioners, more commonly known as doctors, undertake a fundamental primary care role in the health of our society and are directly involved in the health care of patients. Medical practitioners can be involved in diagnosing, treating, preventing or researching illness. They may work in a variety of settings ranging from family general practice to specialties such as surgery. They often work as members of multi-disciplinary teams in conjunction with other health care professionals.
